Embedded Systems Software Engineer

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Embedded Systems Software Engineer to support a company focused on next-generation space and aerospace technologies, including software-defined radio (SDR) and FPGA-based embedded solutions. This position is hybrid (3 days onsite) in Kent, WA. The Embedded Systems Software Engineer will design, develop, and integrate embedded software for highly embedded, flight-ready systems while supporting rapid prototyping and transition to operational space and aerospace platforms. Join a newly awarded Phase 2 program where your work directly impacts future satellite and aircraft missions.

Responsibilities for the Embedded Systems Software Engineer include:

• Develop embedded software for highly embedded and FPGA-based system architectures.
• Support creation of system prototypes that transition into full flight unit builds.
• Implement and update algorithms within software-defined radio systems for satellite platforms.
• Build, maintain, and customize Board Support Packages (BSPs) for FPGA hardware.
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams during lab demonstrations, field tests, and system integration efforts.

Required Qualifications for the Embedded Systems Software Engineer include:

• 5+ years of embedded programming experience.
• Proficiency with C, C++, Linux, and/or PetaLinux in embedded environments.
• Hands-on experience with hardware-software integration and FPGA-based systems.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or related technical discipline with 9+ years of experience
• OR Master's degree with 7+ years of experience
• OR PhD with 4+ years of experience.
• Active Top Secret / SCI clearance with eligibility to obtain a SAP.
