Job Description

Markon is seeking a Cloud Software Engineer Level 3 to develop, maintain, and enhance complex Big Data cloud systems in support of mission-critical programs for the Fort Meade Customer. This role focuses on backend processing, data analysis, and indexing within distributed cloud environments. The engineer will contribute across the full software development lifecycle, leveraging expertise in cloud computing, distributed systems, and scalable data architectures.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and enhance complex Big Data cloud-based systems based on documented requirements
  • Contribute to backend data processing, analysis, and indexing within distributed environments
  • Design and implement solutions using cloud computing and distributed computing frameworks
  • Develop applications within the Hadoop ecosystem and related big data technologies
  • Apply object-oriented design principles to build scalable and maintainable systems
  • Review and test software components to ensure adherence to design requirements and document results
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve software defects and problem reports
  • Apply appropriate software development and design methodologies
  • Provide input to system design, including hardware/software trade-offs and architecture decisions
  • Evaluate and implement software reuse, including COTS/GOTS solutions where applicable
  • Perform requirements analysis and decomposition from system-level to individual components
  • Work independently or collaboratively as part of a team


Qualifications

Required Qualifications
  • Active TS/SCI w/ Polygraph with this Customer.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
  • 12+ years of software engineering experience
  • Experience with cloud computing and distributed systems
  • Experience with Hadoop ecosystem and Big Data technologies
  • Proficiency in Java and object-oriented design principles
  • Experience with backend processing, data analytics, and indexing
  • Familiarity with software development lifecycle methodologies and best practices
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment

Salary Range

USD $230,000.00 - USD $245,000.00 /Yr.
