Location: Hanscom AFB, MA (On-Site)
Job Type: Full-Time (W-2)
Clearance: Active Secret (Required) | TS/SCI Eligible (Required Post-Hire)
Mission:
Support the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) in developing secure, mission-critical software systems. This role directly contributes to national defense initiatives, working in a classified environment on high-impact programs.
What You’ll Work On:
• Full-stack development of secure DoD applications (frontend, backend, integrations)
• System architecture, design, and deployment in classified environments
• Integration of enterprise systems, APIs, and databases
• Performance optimization for high-reliability, mission-critical systems
• Implementation of DevSecOps practices and secure coding standards
• Troubleshooting across multi-system, multi-language environments
• Supporting agile development and rapid prototyping
Key Responsibilities:
• Design, develop, test, and deploy full-stack applications
• Write clean, maintainable, secure code aligned with DoD standards
• Manage code using Git/version control
• Debug and resolve complex system-level issues
• Develop and document system architecture and technical solutions
• Collaborate with engineers, program leadership, and stakeholders
• Ensure compliance with DoD cybersecurity and RMF requirements
• Participate in code reviews and engineering best practices
• Support CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps workflows
Required Qualifications (Must Have)
• Active Secret Clearance (current and valid)
• Ability to obtain Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related STEM field
• 5+ years of full-stack software development experience
• 2+ years of experience with Java
• Experience with XML and data integration
• Proficiency in Linux/Unix environments
• Experience building secure, scalable, high-performance systems
• Strong problem-solving and system design skills
• Willingness to work on-site in a classified environment
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience supporting DoD, Air Force, or AFRL programs
• Familiarity with SIPRNet, JWICS, or other classified networks
• Experience with DevSecOps, CI/CD, and automation tools
• Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Exposure to cloud environments (AWS, Azure GovCloud)
• Frontend experience with React, Angular, or similar frameworks
Work Environment:
• 100% On-Site at Hanscom AFB, MA
• Work performed in secure/classified facilities
• Collaboration with cross-functional engineering and defense teams
