Job Description
Markon is seeking a Software Engineer Level 1 to support programs of similar scope, type, and complexity within a dynamic and mission-focused environment in support of the Fort Meade Customer. This position is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining software solutions while collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure performance, scalability, and reliability.

Responsibilities
- Analyze user requirements to derive software design and performance requirements
- Design, develop, code, and modify software to add new features and enhance existing capabilities
- Debug existing software and resolve defects to maintain optimal performance
- Integrate software into new or modified systems and operating environments
- Develop and implement algorithms to meet or exceed system performance and functional standards
- Analyze system performance, data usage, and workflows to develop effective software solutions
- Design and develop software using scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict outcomes
- Develop database queries and interfaces for data repositories
- Assist in developing and executing test procedures for software components
- Write, review, and maintain software and system documentation
- Provide recommendations to improve development processes and engineering standards
- Serve as a team lead, as appropriate, based on project requirements
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Active TS/SCI w/ Polygraph with this Customer.
- 7 years of Software Engineering experience on programs of similar scope, type, and complexity
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline (or 4 additional years of relevant experience in lieu of degree) - Experience with one or more programming languages (e.g., Java, Python, C++) and the full software development lifecycle (SDLC)
- Experience with debugging, software integration, and developing database queries (e.g., SQL)
- Familiarity with version control (e.g., Git) and modern development tools/environments
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills, with the ability to work both independently and on a team
