Duties
Help
  • Skilled in machine vision, electronics, PLCs, and mechanical systems.
  • Maintain MLRS facility systems and subsystems.
  • Interpret and follows drawings, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Maintain and tests systems and electronics to ensure proper operation.
  • Utilize specialized tool for setting references points on conveyors.
  • Perform electrical tests with a multimeter.
  • Operate and evaluates advanced systems independently.
  • Operate and maintain facility using SOPs and specialized equipment.
  • Operate MLRS systems and handles materials safely.
  • Troubleshoot and repair system/component faults.
  • Wear protective clothing and respirators for pollution system maintenance.
  • Maintain and test systems for proper operation.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.

  • This position requires the incumbent to meet the requirements of AMC-R 350-4, Training and Certification Program for Personnel Working in Ammunition Operations.
  • This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain a forklift, tow motor, overhead crane, and/or motor vehicle license capable of carrying loads weighing less than four tons.
  • This position requires the incumbent to obtain certification for Staubli Robot maintenance (RX series).
  • This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain Qualified Electrical Worker (with CPR) certification.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an MUNITIONS OPERATOR (GUIDED MISSILES) without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common tasks including performing electrical test using computerized equipment; normal maintenance on a variety of missiles; and inspecting a variety of solid propellant guided missiles such as hellfire, dragon, copperhead, ect. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

  • Physical Effort: Moderate physical exertion is required. Work requires lifting and carrying items (tools, equipment parts and components) from 10 to 40 pounds (and occasionally items weighing up to 50 pounds- require a pre-employment physical). Work can require large amounts of walking (five to ten miles) between controls areas and equipment bays. Operators are required to bend, stoop, and stand for extended periods of time to work around the equipment during operations and troubleshooting activities.Workspace is limited in many instances requiring operators to be in awkward positions for periods of time. Work requires going up and down steps and on elevated structures (12 to 14 feet high).
  • Working Conditions: Work is generally performed inside well lighted, climate-controlled buildings. Work is also performed outside with exposure to weather extremes. Work includes donning full protective clothing (Tyvek and full face/half mask respirators) when performing pollution abatement system maintenance. Operators subject to profuse perspiration and extreme fatigue when working in protective clothing. Operators are subject to injuries such as cuts, bruises and burns while performing equipment maintenance and troubleshooting. Operators are exposed to high heat situations from the energetics thermal treatment equipment. Protective clothing for high heat equipment is required. Operators are subject to broken bones and injuries from falls when climbing steps and working on elevated structures. Operators are required to wear fall protection harnesses in some situations. Operators are exposed to electrical shock and burns. Arc rated protective clothing is required for electrical work.
