The United States Space Force (USSF) Space Systems Command (SSC) at Vandenberg SFB, Santa Barbara, California is searching for a Workflow Manager (NH-0301-02, GS 05/11equivalent).

Description:
Workflow Czar: You are the central nervous system for all squadron work orders. Your job is to ensure nothing gets lost, delayed, or ignored. This involves proactive data monitoring, analysis, and reporting upwards to leadership so they can apply pressure where needed.

Quality Assurance Inspector: You are the unit's internal auditor and technical expert. You use established programs (like CSEP) and your own broad knowledge to evaluate everything from maintenance procedures to program management, ensuring the squadron meets technical and operational standards.

Strategic Communicator: You translate complex technical findings and data into clear, actionable reports and briefings for senior leaders. Your analysis doesn't just point out problems; it identifies the root cause and provides solutions to improve the squadron's overall mission readiness.

The ideal candidate for the Workflow Manager position is a highly analytical, communicative, and technically proficient professional with extensive Quality Assurance (QA) experience. This individual will serve as the central nervous system for squadron operations, driving continuous improvement and ensuring uncompromising mission readiness through rigorous oversight, internal auditing, and strategic reporting.

Key Skills and Abilities:
1. Knowledge of communications and information (C&I) systems and facilities, practices and methodologies used in both government and industry; to include an understanding of the Space Force, Air Force and C&I organizational structure.
2. Knowledge and understanding of the Department of Defense Planning, Programming and Budgeting System (PPBS) and Federal budget process, including knowledge of congressional budget process; and understanding of Air Force, DoD and OMB policies, directives, and regulations to effectively develop and defend multi-year financial programs.
3. Knowledge of acquisition planning and contracting methodologies sufficient to provide an analysis with a recommended course of action on a wide variety of contractual matters.
4. Knowledge of safety, security, personnel management, Military Equal Opportunity (MEO) and EEO regulations, practices, and procedures.
5. skill in managing the work operations of multiple organizational segments to meet program requirements, goals, and objective within available resources.
6. Ability to plan, organize and direct the functions and mentor, motivate, and appraise the staff of an organization directly and through subordinate supervisors.
7. Ability to identify problems, develop and implement innovative detailed strategies to resolve a wide range of programming, C&I and management issues.
8. Ability to execute complex projects and/or studies within established time constraints.
9. Ability to establish and maintain relationships with key individuals/groups within and outside immediate work unit including field-level representatives.
10. Ability to advise senior leaders and field-level representatives.

  • Required to handle and safeguard sensitive and/or classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise.
  • May be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evening, weekends, and/or holidays.
  • May be required to travel by military or commercial aircraft in the performance of TDY assignments.
  • Subject to Temporary Duty Assignment (TDY): Approximately 15 days per year.
  • This position will close after 5 business days or 75 applications, whichever comes first.
  • Depending on the type of position (competitive/excepted) you are selected for, you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period OR 2-year trial period.
  • Upon completion of your probationary/trial period, your employment will be terminated unless you receive certification, in writing, that your continued employment advances the public interest.
