Help
- Serves as a highly qualitied culinary expert and a managing advisor for the Department of the Air Force Executive Dining Facility (DAFEDF), providing expert guidance on top culinary operations, menu engineering, and enterprise level food service management.
- Directs the daily business operations of the organization.
- Plans, organizes and directs the culinary activities, training, and enhancements of the DAFEDF, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and meets customer needs.
- Represents the organization and DAF with a variety of functional area organizations.
- Executes a variety of special projects and provides data driven recommendations that strengthen organizational performance and enhance the prestige of the Department of the Air Force.

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-12, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes: (1) Works with Michellin quality restaurant management and culinary techniques, along with food service, catering operations, and executive level dining functions. (2) Works with restaurant, food and beverage, management in environments requiring strict adherence to protocol and frequent engagement with senior military leaders, high ranking civilian officials, and foreign dignitaries; and (3) Works with domestic and international culinary preparation methods, including advanced cooking techniques, premium ingredient utilization, formal presentation standards, and fine dining tabletop service.

FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-12 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-13 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of all aspects to operate and manage a Michellin quality restaurant, all facets of the executive food services and catering operations, along with the policies, principles, concepts, guidance, procedures, techniques, and methodologies pertaining to executive food services management activities or equivalent knowledge in a related field.
2. Knowledge of Michellin quality cuisine, menu design, kitchen design and flow, domestic and international culinary preparation methods, policies governing food service operations, personnel management, and workplace safety.
3. Knowledge of nationally unique customs and courtesies of the international community, work events and international political-military affairs.
4. Knowledge of DAF budget procedures along with the ability to effectively manage financial resources, accurately track and record transactions, and successfully reconcile the organization's finances.
5. Skill in communicating effectively, both orally and in writing; skill and ability to use correspondence rules and regulations to prepare and/or edit written correspondence, ensuring proper use of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
6. Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and staff of a small to medium sized organization
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social).
