Job Description

Duties

  • Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities at least %25 of the time. Plans work to be accomplished by subordinates, sets and adjusts short/long-term priorities, and prepares schedules for completion of work.
  • Manages, administers, and implements requirements per DOD 4525.8 M, Department of Defense Official Mail Manual and DOD 4525.6-M, Department of Defense Postal Manual.
  • Represents the Force Support Squadron with a variety of installation and functional area organizations.
  • Serves as Secret and Classified Control Officer and is the central accountability and control point for classified material received or dispatched by all serviced organizations.

  • Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
  • Required to handle and safe guard sensitive and /or classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise.
  • Employee must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • This position is designated as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Testing Program. Illegal drug use by employees in sensitive positions present a clear threat to the mission of the Air Force
  • national security, and public safety. It is required that you (a) refrain from the use of illegal drugs and (b) if requested, submit to urinalysis testing.
  • This is a Supervisory Position in which a supervisory probation period may be required.
Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management positions.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower broadband NH-01, equivalent to the next to lower grade GS-04 or equivalent in the Federal Service. Experience includes: (1) Applying in depth knowledge of USPS, DOD, and Air Force postal policies to ensure compliant and efficient mail operations (2) Utilizing broad understanding of safety, security, personnel management, and EEO requirements to maintain a safe and equitable workplace (3) Interpreting and enforcing governing laws, executive orders, and postal regulations to support mission readiness and operational integrity (4) Leading teams and managing organizational functions with a focus on performance, accountability, and mission success.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:

1. Knowledge and understanding of policies, procedures, and processes that govern USPS, DOD, and Air Force Postal Programs.

2. Knowledge of safety, security, personnel management, and EEO regulations, practices, and procedures.

3. Knowledge of and ability to apply laws, executive orders, regulations, policies, and concepts pertaining to postal requirements.

4. Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and staff of a small to medium sized organization.

5. Ability to develop and conduct effective training on safety, security, and postal operations procedures.

6. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writting.

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
