Job Description

Duties

  • You will support the management and coordination of the physical receiving, moving and storing of rip-out and pre-fabricated materials between production shops to the proper storage areas, or work site destinations.
  • You will identify resources (e.g. manpower, costs, and schedules) for senior Job Readiness Center Project (JRC) Managers' review.
  • You will apply policies and practices associated with rip-out management to assist in facilitating the movement of rip-out and kitted material within assigned pier laydown areas to help ensure the timely completion of shipyard availabilities.
  • You will provide support with coordinating the development or monitoring of job readiness activities for repair, maintenance, and/or overhaul projects.
  • You will follow the progress of work and assist supply technicians and other shop personnel to eliminate backlogs, ensure proper prioritization of resources, and ensure that workplace objectives and quality standards are met.
  • You will utilize various inventory and resource tracking systems to ensure the timely and accurate movement of materials, processing of receipts, and to proactively identify, correct, and prevent rip-out material management problems.
  • You will monitor supply operations to identify areas for improvement, develop recommendations, and ensure corrective actions/preventive measures for rip-out material management are completed in a safe, timely, and cost-effective manner.
  • You will regularly communicate with senior Job Readiness Center Project (JRC) Managers to provide status reports of workplace operations and receive tasks to to support the overall management of rip-out material management programs and projects.
  • You will apply a thorough knowledge of resource management methods and techniques in order to provide informed guidance on rip-out material management operations best practices to internal and external customers.

  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • You will be required to lift up to 50 pounds
  • You will be required to climb ladders and/or scaffolding.
Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector providing supply operations management support functions in a shipyard environment such as: maintaining and monitoring inventories; maintaining and processing receipts; providing technical guidance on resource allocation processes and procedures; monitoring and reporting program trends; documenting processes, discrepancies, and improvements; and/or recognizing and resolving discrepancies

Education

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

GS-09 •
  • Successful completion of 2 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree;or
  • Successful completion of a master's or equivalent graduate degree; or
  • A combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience
