Job Title: Lifeguard


Job Summary:


Ensure the safety and readiness of law enforcement trainees at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) in Charleston, SC by providing vigilant surveillance and emergency response at the aquatic training facility. As a DAWSON Lifeguard, you will support both structured training exercises and recreational swim periods—maintaining safe practices, enforcing facility rules, and responding quickly to incidents. Your presence helps safeguard student well-being and training continuity in and around the pool.


Location: Charleston, SC


Responsibilities:




  • Monitor pool activities during training and recreational sessions, enforcing rules and maintaining a safe environment.




  • Provide immediate response to water emergencies, including rescues, first aid, CPR, and AED use as needed.




  • Conduct daily inspections of pool area, safety equipment, and locker rooms to ensure cleanliness and readiness.




  • Complete incident reports and notify supervisors of any injuries, hazards, or safety violations.




  • Assist in opening and closing procedures, including lane setup, water quality checks, and equipment storage.




  • Support instructors during aquatic law enforcement training exercises, ensuring safety coverage at all times.




  • Communicate clearly and professionally with students, staff, and instructors.




  • Maintain personal physical fitness and readiness to perform rescue operations at all times.

Qualifications:




  • Must be 18 years of older and hold a current certification in Lifeguarding, First Aid, and CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer (e.g., American Red Cross, YMCA, or equivalent).




  • Minimum 1 year of experience as a lifeguard in a training, educational, military, or recreational setting.




  • Strong swimming and rescue skills; able to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting up to 50 lbs.




  • Clear understanding of pool safety standards, water surveillance techniques, and emergency response protocols.




  • Excellent observational, communication, and decision-making skills.




  • Must be able to maintain professional demeanor in a high-tempo training environment.




Additional Requirements:




  • Must be eligible for DHS background investigation and suitability clearance.




  • Must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident with work authorization.




  • This position may require the operation of Company-provided vehicles.




    • If operating Company-provided vehicles, maintaining a valid driver’s license in good standing is a condition of employment.




    • If operating Company-provided vehicles, employee must comply with all Company vehicle use and safety policies, as well as all applicable traffic laws.




    • If operating Company-provided vehicles, the Company may review your motor vehicle record (MVR), as permitted by law, to verify eligibility to operate Company vehicles.




    • If operating Company-provided vehicles, you must immediately notify the Company if your driver’s license is suspended, revoked, restricted, expires, or if your driving privileges otherwise change.






  • Work schedules are determined by management and may be modified at any time based on business needs, contractual obligations, and operational requirements.




Salary - $17.75 per hour + $5.09 HW = $22.84 per hour
