We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Mechanical Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will leverage your expertise in mechanical engineering to design, analyze, and develop complex mechanical systems and equipment. You will play a key role in solving technical problems, driving innovative solutions, and supporting the delivery of high-quality engineering projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and Development:
- Develop innovative mechanical solutions by applying advanced analytical and investigative methods.
- Design complex mechanical systems and equipment while ensuring they meet technical specifications and performance requirements.
- Create and review technical design drawings, ensuring accuracy and adherence to engineering techniques and specifications.
- Problem Solving and Analysis:
- Investigate, evaluate, and troubleshoot mechanical systems to identify and eliminate causes of malfunctions or inefficiencies.
- Conduct detailed analyses of assigned tasks to determine resource requirements, including manpower and materials.
- Develop and implement modifications to existing equipment to meet changing system requirements.
- Project Planning and Coordination:
- Prepare project schedules and cost estimates to ensure deliverables are completed on time and within budget.
- Plan, coordinate, and manage project activities to ensure seamless integration across all stages of the development process.
- Provide clear technical guidance to technicians and engineers, overseeing activities such as fabrication, assembly, and installation of mechanical systems.
- Testing and Documentation:
- Develop and execute complex testing procedures to validate the performance and functionality of mechanical systems.
- Create, edit, and release technical documentation, including evaluation plans, test results, engineering reports, and technical manuals, ensuring compliance with company and contractual requirements.
- On-site Operations and Maintenance:
- Direct field operations, including maintenance activities, for equipment and system installations when required.
- Provide hands-on expertise to support field teams and ensure optimal system operation.
- Innovation and Continuous Improvement:
- Contribute to the development of new applications with originality and ingenuity.
- Proactively identify opportunities to optimize designs and processes for greater efficiency and reliability.
Qualifications
Required:
- BS in Mechanical Engineering (or related) and 0-2 years experience
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret clearance
- Must have a general understanding of static and dynamic material behavior
- General knowledge of Microsoft suite (Excel, Power Point, One Note, etc)
Preferred:
- Testing: static, dynamic, or shock materials testing experience
- Modeling: implicit or explicit Abaqus experience (or similar)
- Wave Propagation: experience with 1D wave codes such as PUFF or Wondy (or similar)
- Design: experience with CREO (or similar)
- Scripting experience with Matlab and Python (or similar)
