Job Description
We're hiring an experienced HVAC/R Technician to support a highly specialized and mission-critical environment.
This role is ideal for someone with strong technical expertise in HVAC systems, refrigeration, and building controls who thrives in complex settings and can work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
What You'll Do:
Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair a wide range of HVAC and refrigeration systems, including chillers, compressors, ventilation systems, and environmental controls
Install, test, modify, and calibrate equipment to meet operational and regulatory requirements
Work with building automation systems, including DDC controls such as JCI Metasys, Honeywell, and Schneider Electric platforms
Diagnose and resolve issues across electrical systems, controls, and mechanical components
Interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals to execute repairs and upgrades
Maintain detailed service logs and ensure compliance with all safety and regulatory standards, including EPA guidelines
Support air balancing and environmental control adjustments across office, laboratory, and specialized facility spaces
Operate a variety of tools and diagnostic equipment to perform maintenance and repairs
Participate in on-call rotations and respond to emergency maintenance needs as required
Unique Work Environment:
This role supports operations within high-containment laboratory environments (BSL-3 and BSL-4), requiring strict adherence to safety, security, and bio-containment protocols.
What You Bring:
Strong hands-on experience with HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, and heating systems
Ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical systems with minimal supervision
Experience working with building automation and control systems
Strong attention to detail, safety awareness, and problem-solving skills
Flexibility to work varying shifts and respond to urgent maintenance needs
Required Qualifications:
Master HVAC License (or Journeyman license with eligibility to obtain Master license)
EPA Universal Refrigerant Certification
OSHA Forklift Certification
Basic Quality Assurance training for maintenance or construction
Clearance & Requirements:
U.S. Citizenship required
Ability to obtain and maintain DoD Secret Clearance
Ability to obtain and maintain BPRP status and access to high-containment lab environments
