The Senior Subcontracts Management Specialist is responsible for managing and optimizing the full lifecycle of complex subcontracts for specialized materials, equipment, and services. This role involves leading the preparation of bid packages, negotiating subcontract terms, and ensuring subcontractor performance aligns with company objectives and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and optimize the development of subcontract specifications, work statements, and terms and conditions for complex procurements.
- Lead the preparation of comprehensive bid packages and establish rigorous evaluation criteria for subcontract proposals.
- Analyze and critically evaluate complex subcontractor proposals to ensure compliance with technical, financial, and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct high-level negotiations of subcontract provisions, including terms, price, and schedule, to secure strategic agreements.
- Administer and oversee a variety of subcontract types, including Firm Fixed Price (FFP), Time and Material (T&M), Cost Plus Fixed Fee (CPFF), Cost Plus Incentive Fee (CPIF) and other complex contract types.
- Monitor, assess, and enhance subcontractor performance to ensure compliance with contract terms and deliverables.
- Maintain detailed and accurate records of subcontract agreements, amendments, and performance metrics.
- Identify, select, and recommend new subcontractors based on comprehensive evaluation and analysis.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and executive leadership to ensure subcontract management aligns with strategic goals.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and federal regulations, including the ability to interpret, understand, and apply of Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS) regulations in a subcontract as well as and drive continuous improvement in subcontract management practices.
Qualifications You Must Have:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field.
- 6+ years of experience in a related role.
- Relevant experience can be considered as a substitute for the required educational qualifications. In the absence of a degree, a minimum of 10 years of related experience is required.
- Higher level relevant degree may substitute for experience.
- Expert proficiency in subcontract management principles and methodologies.
- Vast knowledge of Business System requirements and applicability to contracts.
- Strong ability to present complex contract information concisely.
- The ability to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Security Clearance is required
Qualifications We Prefer:
- Extensive leadership experience in the Aerospace and Defense industry.
- Mastery of procurement and subcontract management software.
- Advanced certification in supply chain management [e.g., Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM), Certified Federal Contract Manager (CFCM)].

- Ability to sit for extended periods while working on a computer.
- Hand and finger dexterity for data entry and document review.
- Ability to work in an office or hybrid environment.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
