Job Description

Duties

As a TRANSPORTATION SPECIALIST at the GS-2101-12 some of your typical work assignments may include:
  • Manage the Command's Requirements Phase of the Joint Training System (JTS), ensuring training requirements accurately reflect mission needs and are integrated into training plans.
  • Serve as the Command's Subject Matter Expert (SME) on Joint Mission Essential Task List (JMETL) processes, policies, regulations, and directives.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to directorate-appointed Joint Training Representatives (JTRs) to develop comprehensive and actionable training requirements.
  • Lead the development, implementation, and execution of the annual Joint Training Plan (JTP) to enhance Command readiness.
  • Mentor and support JTRs in creating Directorate Training Plans (DTPs) that align with the Command's strategic objectives.
  • Collaborate with JTRs and Exercise Program Managers (PMs) to ensure training objectives are SMART (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, and Time-bound), strategically aligned, and measurable.

  • This position is designated by the AF as a Test Designated Position (TDP) under the AF Civilian Drug Testing Program. Incumbent of this position is subject to the possibility of random drug testing
  • Travel and relocation expenses, if approved, will be paid IAW JTR and AFMAN 36-606
  • Occasional temporary duty in both CONUS and overseas may be required. The employee must be willing to use military and commercial transportation in accomplishing assigned duties and responsibilities.
  • Occasional work outside normal duty hours and on weekends and holidays for periods exceeding 8 hours per day. May be required to work other than normal work schedule to support Crisis Action Team (CAT) during exercises or contingencies.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret Clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI).
Qualifications

You may qualify at the GS-12, if you fulfill the following qualifications:

One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service:
  • Developing, coordinating, and implementing collective joint training policy and procedures.
  • Developing the Joint Training Plan (JTP) for mission matrices and collective training objectives.
  • Developing an assessment plan to collect observations during collective training events, and daily mission operations.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

In addition to meeting qualifications, your application package must reflect the applicable experience to meet the Individual Occupational Requirements for the 2101 series.
Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study -- accounting, business administration, business or commercial law, commerce, economics, engineering, finance, industrial management, statistics, traffic management, transportation, motor mechanics, or other fields related to the position. *NOTE: Failure to provide transcripts will result in you being rated ineligible for this position.

Specialized Experience (for positions above GS-5): Experience that demonstrated a knowledge of the transportation function(s) of the position to be filled.

Education

Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
