Position Overview
We are seeking a dependable and hands-on Systems Administrator to support our CB-ISEA contract with NIWC PAC. This role supports day-to-day IT operations, end-user systems, internal infrastructure, and cybersecurity compliance across government-furnished equipment (GFE), networks, and lab environments.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys solving technical problems, supporting users, maintaining organized environments, and working across both helpdesk and infrastructure tasks.
The role is full-time on-site in San Diego due to the hands-on nature of system support, hardware staging, secure environments, and customer responsiveness.

Key Responsibilities
Technical Support
- Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 system administration support for laptops, desktops, printers, servers, and virtual environments
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, account access, connectivity, and peripheral issues
- Support approved enterprise software such as browsers, plug-ins, VPN clients, and endpoint security tools
- Respond to customer issues and requests through helpdesk tickets, request forms, email, and in-person support
- Escalate complex issues when required and track resolution through completion
Cybersecurity / Compliance
- Ensure systems remain compliant with applicable cybersecurity policies and standards
- Perform system hardening and remediation using DISA STIG checklists
- Support patching, updates, antivirus, endpoint protection, and audit readiness efforts
- Maintain secure handling of systems, media, and data in accordance with company and government requirements
Infrastructure Support
- Stage and configure hardware for users, labs, and internal test environments
- Assist with workstation builds, imaging, device deployment, and refresh efforts
- Support local networks including cable mapping, connectivity troubleshooting, and equipment setup
- Assist with server room organization and equipment moves as needed
- Support secure disposal of hardware and media per compliance standards
Administrative / Operational Support
- Create and maintain technical documentation and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Maintain accurate inventory of IT assets, supplies, and equipment
- Maintain internal paper and digital records
- Coordinate with internal teams, contractors, and vendors during maintenance windows or support actions
- Train users or teammates on common procedures and tools as needed
Required Qualifications
- Active Secret Clearance (required)
- 1-4 years of experience in IT support, system administration, helpdesk, or related technical support role
- Security+
- OS Certification (RHEL, Windows, AWS or similar)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a DoD, government, or regulated environment
- Familiarity with DISA STIGs, patching, and compliance processes
- Experience with PowerShell, batch scripting, SSH, or basic automation tools
- Exposure to virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V, VirtualBox, etc.)
- Experience with endpoint security tools or enterprise device management
- CompTIA A+, Network+ or similar certifications
- Experience supporting Windows workstations and common enterprise software
- Basic understanding of networking concepts (IP, switches, printers, connectivity)
- Experience troubleshooting hardware and software issues
- Strong customer service mindset and communication skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple requests in a fast-paced environment
