COLSA Corporation is hiring for a UAS Specialist to join our Uncrewed Systems Department where you will participate in the integration, maintenance, training, and test of small unmanned aircraft systems (sUAS).
Principal Duties and Responsibilities (*Essential functions)
- Participates in rapid prototyping for the design process for drones
- Makes recommendations for modification during the design process based on feedback from previous testing results to meet desired specifications.
- Performs assembly of mechanical and electrical drones, integration and test, and buildup of assemblies & subassemblies
- Uses a variety of machine shop tools and other items including CNC mills, 3D printers, etc.
- Documents processes and build techniques
- Provides technical support to stakeholders and troubleshoots issues
- Participates in testing, data collection and analysis
- Prepares reports for leadership discussions on the process and recommends process improvement
- May assist operations and training team with curriculum and training demonstrations
- Travel for field testing and/or project meetings
- May pilot drone following a specific flight plan or obtaining useful footage

Required Experience
Required Qualifications:
- Associate's degree in technical or related field, or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 2 years of related experience
- Demonstrated knowledge of electrical and mechanical components required
- Ability to obtain interim Secret clearance within 6 months of hire; US Citizenship required
- Willing and able to travel with UAS Operations and Training teams up to 10% (as needed)
Preferred Qualifications
- FAA FAR Part 107 Certified preferred
- Secret clearance
- Experience with Mission Planner and other drone programming/configuration software
- Understanding of drone integration process
- Previous experience with drone flight testing
- Understanding of rapid prototyping in a manufacturing or DoD environment
