This role is responsible for technical leadership, operational oversight, and strategic planning of VDI platforms, ensuring availability, performance, security, and scalability across the enterprise.
The ideal candidate combines strong people leadership with deep hands‑on VDI, Windows, and virtualization expertise, and is comfortable operating in a high‑availability, security‑driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage enterprise VDI environments, including platform architecture, deployment, performance optimization, and lifecycle management.
Provide technical and people leadership for a team of engineers and administrators supporting virtual desktop services.
Oversee day‑to‑day VDI operations, monitoring system health, capacity, availability, and end‑user experience.
Drive issue resolution and serve as an escalation point for complex outages, leading root cause analysis and post‑incident remediation.
Collaborate with infrastructure, network, security, IAM, and end‑user support teams to ensure seamless service delivery.
Ensure VDI platforms adhere to security and compliance requirements, including DISA STIGs, NIST controls, and customer‑specific policies.
Plan and execute upgrades, patches, and technology refreshes while minimizing operational impact.
Support automation, standardization, and process improvements to increase reliability and reduce operational overhead.
Provide reporting and briefings to leadership on VDI performance, risks, capacity, and roadmap initiatives.
Required Qualifications
Proven experience managing and supporting enterprise VDI environments in a lead or management capacity.
Strong hands‑on experience with VDI technologies such as VMware Horizon, Citrix, or similar platforms.
Advanced knowledge of Windows desktop and server environments, Active Directory, Group Policy, and identity integration.
Experience with virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware vSphere/ESXi) and enterprise storage solutions.
Familiarity with ITSM processes and operating in production, SLA‑driven environments.
Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting federal customers or highly regulated environments.
Knowledge of hybrid environments and integrations with Azure or other cloud platforms.
Scripting or automation experience (PowerShell preferred).
Understanding of endpoint security, vulnerability management, and compliance frameworks.
