SciTec, a wholly owned subsidiary of Firefly Aerospace, is a dynamic non-traditional defense contractor that delivers advanced technologies in support of U.S. National Security and Defense. We develop innovative remote sensing algorithms, tools, and techniques to deliver world-class data exploitation capabilities supporting missile defense; intelligence, surveillance, & reconnaissance; space domain awareness; and aircraft survivability missions.

SciTec has an immediate opportunity for a Strategic Communications and Marketing Director to establish and lead SciTec's integrated communications function. This executive will be responsible for shaping SciTec's strategic narrative, strengthening our visibility within the defense ecosystem, and ensuring alignment with Firefly Aerospace's vertically integrated defense enterprise. The successful candidate must bring deep national security communications expertise and a strong network across DoD, the Intelligence Community, congressional committees, industry partners, and national security media. This individual will serve as a key advisor to the CEO and executive team, operating with the judgment and discretion required for sensitive mission areas. The role spans strategic communications, public affairs, executive communications, brand development, digital presence, internal communications, and customer-facing messaging.

Responsibilities

Strategic Communications

· Develop and execute SciTec's enterprise communications strategy aligned with corporate growth, Firefly's defense posture, and DoD modernization priorities

· Establish a unified narrative around SciTec's sensing, fusion, and mission software capabilities for government, industry, and congressional audiences

· Ensure message alignment across SciTec and Firefly's defense ecosystem

External Stakeholder Engagement

· Leverage established relationships within DoD, the Intelligence Community, congressional committees, and national security media to elevate SciTec's visibility and credibility

· Serve as a senior representative for SciTec in engagements with government stakeholders, industry partners, and defense reporters

· Shape SciTec's role in national security conversations by proactively positioning the company with key decision makers and influencers

Executive Communications

· Serve as principal communications advisor to the CEO, President, and senior leadership

· Lead development of speeches, talking points, congressional engagement materials, and executive-level messaging

· Prepare executives for media engagements, conferences, and customer briefings

Media Relations & Public Affairs

· Build and manage relationships with defense, aerospace, and national security media

· Lead proactive and reactive media engagement, including crisis communications

· Coordinate joint announcements and strategic messaging with Firefly's communications leadership

Brand, Marketing & Digital Strategy

· Define SciTec's brand identity within the Firefly ecosystem

· Oversee digital presence, including website, social media, and thought leadership

· Develop marketing collateral and customer-facing materials supporting business development and capture

Internal Communications

· Establish internal communications processes that strengthen culture, transparency, and alignment across SciTec's distributed workforce

· Support change management communications related to integration with Firefly's defense initiatives

Team Leadership

· Build and lead a high-performing communications team as the function scales

· Establish governance, standards, and processes for all internal and external communications

· Manage communications budget, vendors, and agency partners

Requirements

· 20 years of demonstrated experience in strategic communications / public affairs in defense, aerospace, national security, government policy, or dual-use technology

· 20 years of experience working with DoD, IC, congressional staff, or federal agencies

· Demonstrated ability to influence senior government stakeholders and industry partners through strategic communications

· Established, trusted relationships across the Department of Defense, Intelligence Community, congressional staff, and national security media

· Proven track record advising C suite executives or senior government leaders on high visibility, high consequence issues

· Strong executive writing and storytelling capabilities

· Proven success building or scaling a communications function

· Ability to operate in a fast-paced, engineering-driven environment

· Active DoD SECRET clearance or ability to obtain one

- Ability to travel periodically to meet with customers and industry partners and to represent SciTec at tradeshows and conferences

Salary range: $172 - $227K per year
