Job Description

Duties

  • You will assist in assessing and documenting risk by severity and probability level of potential mishaps for hazards across all system modes using defined industry standards to obtain acceptance of risk by program management.
  • You will collaborate with senior managers and decision makers to identify and assist in solving discrepancies related to weapon systems safety program requirements.
  • You will assist in providing scientific or technical advice or support to others to advance the system safety teams understanding.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

In addition to the basic education requirements below:

For the NT-05: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the NT-04 (GS-11/12 equivalent) pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: analyzing and developing technical engineering procedures to provide technical solutions to weapon systems problems affecting the safety of operations in alignment with program requirements.

For the NT-04: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the NT-03 (GS-09/10 equivalent) pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: performing work involving analyzing, testing, or modifying to resolve discrepancies related to system safety program requirements.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

Additional information

The NT-04 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to the GS-11 and GS-12.
The NT-05 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to the GS-13 and GS-14.
This position is part of the Warfare Centers Personnel Demonstration Project.
The salary range shown above is capped at the GS-13, Step 10 ($158,322).

This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program.
