Mission Modeling and Simulation Software Engineer, Senior
The Opportunity:
As a sof t war e engineer who builds in mission-driven domains, you've spent your career at the intersection of operational reality and sof t war e systems. You translate concepts, tactics, and effects into the models that make a platform credible. You know the difference between a system that works in the abstract and one that holds up when a planner runs it against a real scenario. We are building a decision-support platform for national security operations, and we need someone like you to build the mission layer that brings it to life.
On this team, you'll own the scenario execution layer and operational domain models for a platform that generates optimized courses of action under uncertainty. You'll define action spaces, effects models, and constraint templates that give the solver so met hing meaningful to reason over. Then, you'll build the execution harness and vignettes that demonstrate cross-domain composition in operationally- relevant contexts. Your work is what makes this platform credible to the planners and evaluators who will put it to the test.

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $86,900.00 to $198,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen's total compensation package for employees. You Have:
- 5+ years of experience developing sof t war e for modeling, simulation, or mission planning applications in defense, intelligence, or national security contexts
- Experience building domain models that represent operational scenarios, including entity definitions, action spaces, effect chains, and constraint structures
- Experience with effects modeling, including the representation of cyber operations, electronic war fare, or information activities within simulation or planning frameworks
- Ability to translate operational concepts and doctrine into sof t war e-representable structures such as effect catalogs, constraint templates, or scenario specifications
- Ability to obtain a TS/SCI clearance with a polygraph
- Bachelor's degree in a CS, Systems Engineering, or Operations Research field
Nice If You Have:
- Experience building effects catalogs or target-effects pairing systems that link actions to expected outcomes across multiple domains
- Experience with simulation frameworks, war gaming platforms, or digital twin environments that have been demonstrated or evaluated in government exercise or test environments
- Experience integrating physics-based or surrogate models into scenario execution workflows
- Experience performing research in operations research, war gaming, effects-based operations, or modeling and simulation in an academic environment
- Master's degree in Operations Research, Systems Engineering, Modeling and Simulation, or a related field
