System Engineer

A Global Defense and Space Contractor is seeking a Systems Engineer to join their team in Sunnyvale, CA!

This role is 100% on site and will be a 9/80 schedule with on console during operations periods

We are looking for a dynamic Systems Engineer to join their team in Sunnyvale, California.

As a Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for the following:

• Design, implement, and maintain virtualization infrastructure, including VMware vSphere, vCenter, and related technologies
• Provide expert-level Windows administration, including installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of Windows operating systems
• Develop and maintain documentation for virtualization and Windows environments, including configuration guides, troubleshooting procedures, and best practices
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of virtualization and Windows environments with other IT systems and infrastructure
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues related to virtualization, VMware, and Windows environments
• Develop and implement automation scripts and tools to streamline virtualization and Windows administration tasks
• Ensure compliance with industry standards, best practices, and company policies for virtualization and Windows environments
• Provide training and guidance to junior team members on virtualization, VMware, and Windows administration
• Participate in on-call rotations and provide 24/7 support for critical systems and infrastructure
• Design, implement, and maintain cloud-based infrastructure using OpenShift and OpenStack, including container orchestration, deployment, and management
• Develop and maintain containerized applications and microservices using Docker, Kubernetes, and other containerization technologies
• Collaborate with development teams to ensure seamless integration of cloud-based applications and services with other IT systems and infrastructure
• Ensure compliance with industry standards, best practices, and company policies for cloud-based environments

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience
• Minimum 5 years of experience in systems engineering, with a focus on virtualization, VMware, Windows administration, and cloud technologies
• Strong knowledge of virtualization technologies, including VMware vSphere, vCenter, and related products
• Expert-level knowledge of Windows operating systems, including installation, configuration, and troubleshooting
• Active DoD Secret security clearance

Desired Skills

• VMware VCP or VCAP certification
• Microsoft MCSA or MCSE certification
• Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) or Red Hat Certified Architect (RHCA) certification
• OpenShift and OpenStack certifications, such as Red Hat OpenShift Administration or OpenStack Foundation Certified OpenStack Administrator
• Knowledge of containerization technologies, including Docker and Kubernetes
• Experience with automation tools and scripting languages, such as PowerShell, Python, or Perl
• Experience with agile development methodologies and DevOps practices
• Knowledge of IT security frameworks and compliance regulations, such as DCSA
• Experience with cloud-based storage solutions, such as Ceph or Gluster
• Experience with cloud computing platforms, including OpenShift and OpenStack
• Ability to obtain DoD top secret security clearance

Clearance: Secret - Must be willing to upgrade to TS immediately
