ECS is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join the RPL team in Chantilly, VA .
As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will work on high performance RF systems used for Radar and Flight Termination System (FTS). Based on system requirements, you will collaborate with a multidisciplinary engineering team of RF Engineers, Mechanical Engineers, and Software Engineers, to derive solutions, perform verification testing, and troubleshoot any issues. A successful candidate will solve complex problems and complete hardware and firmware designs and perform hands on testing.

A successful candidate will solve complex problems and complete hardware and firmware designs and perform hands on testing.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering , Computer Engineering, or a related field, with 8+ years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering, with 5+ years related experience.
- Experience with Schematic Capture and Layout of complex mixed signal designs.
- HDI Layout experience understanding the complexities and tradeoffs of complex high-density layouts.
- +5 years hardware development experience using FPGAs, microprocessors, high speed digital circuits in embedded designs.
- In depth knowledge of engineering standards, theories, concepts, and techniques relevant to electrical and electronic systems built to MIL-STD-461F and above.
- Experience generating Basis of Estimates (BOE) to generate Scope and Pricing for new work.
- Experience developing and publishing technical content from concept to completion, including test procedures, test reports, engineering analyses, white papers, operations/user manuals, and design review materials, in collaboration with engineers, technicians, and stakeholders.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong team player with the ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Experience in mentoring junior engineers to complete tasks.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a US Government DoD Security Clearance.
- Proficiency in electronic circuit analysis and design applications, such as:
- Altium or Siemens/Mentor Graphics PADS
- MATLAB
- SPICE/PSPICE
- Keysight Pathwave/Genesys/ADS, AWR Microwave Office or Ansys HFSS
- ModelSim, Vivado, Vitis or Quartus
- Experience in Radio Frequency (RF) circuit modeling, analysis and design and/or Digital Signal Processing (DSP).
- 5+ years of experience with FPGA designs, VHDL and/or Verilog.
- Experience with FPGA soft CPU cores similar to AMD Microblaze or Altera Nios II.
- Experience with designing/debugging high speed interfaces (1GE, PCIe, and DDRx).
- Experience with hardware & software codesign in Zynq UltraScape+ RFSoCs.
- PCB design experience, including mixed-signal circuitry.
- Experience with antenna theory, design and measurement techniques.
- Familiarity with Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Test (DFT).
- Coursework or direct experience with radar systems, including:
- Radar system design and analysis
- Radar signal processing and simulation
- Understanding of basic RF and microwave engineering principles, including:
- Transmission lines and matching networks
- Filter design and analysis
- Harmonic balance and non-linear effects
- Cascaded noise figure and signal-to-noise analyses
- Radio Frequency/Electromagnetic Interference (RFI/EMI) effects and mitigation techniques
- Time- and frequency-domain relationships and analysis techniques
- Active US Government DoD Secret Security Clearance or higher.
