Northrop Grumman is currently seeking a Cost Estimating Analyst - Level 2 or 3, to join the Northrop Grumman Space Systems sector Pricing & Estimating team. The preferred location for this role is Chandler AZ. May consider other major space sector locations. A remote working scenario for this position will also be considered. .

This position can be filled at either a Level 2 or 3.

In this job, you will:
  • Compile cost, schedule, and technical elements in the development of proposals in accordance with request for proposal (RFP) specifications and other pricing/cost requirements.
  • Lead and coordinate the collection and accumulation of cost, scheduling, and performance elements from functional departments for all material/subcontractor related items.
  • Consolidate Bill of Material (BOM) requirements in support of price and/or price/cost analysis.
  • Review purchase order history, actuals, quotes, proposals to estimate the BOM.
  • Incorporate escalation and quantity variance curve factors and extended costs for required quantities.
  • Coordinate activities and participates in customer fact-finding meetings.
  • Support DCAA/DCMA audit reviews for proposals and other customer cost reviews.
  • Participate in should-cost and pricing reviews with management and customer representatives.
  • Perform data collection, normalization, and analysis.
  • Develop estimating factors, regression analyses and identify estimating relationships from company data.
  • Support cost studies using company data.
  • Identify and evaluate proposal risk issues in BOM cost estimates, terms and conditions, and all other business management related functions.
  • Support Pricing and Estimating team initiatives, to include new estimating processes and tools.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Level 2: Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Business, Accounting, or a related field with 2+ years of relevant professional experience - OR - Master's degree in Data Science, Business, Accounting or a related field with 1+ years of relevant professional experience.
  • Level 3: Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Business, Accounting, or a related field with 5+ years of professional experience - OR - Master's degree in Data Science, Business, Accounting or a related field with 3+ years of relevant professional experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in business management and labor and non-labor cost estimating.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to make recommendations and provide guidance to effectively bring projects to completion.
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with data transformation and normalization.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to use them in informing, presenting, negotiating and problem solving with a wide range of functions and people.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret security clearance. US Citizenship is a prerequisite.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience and practical application of Artificial Intelligence (AI).
  • Experience with Large Language Models (LLMs) and Generative AI.
  • Programming experience to include:
  • Database design SQL experience.
  • Experience with languages and tools such as JavaScript (React), , Python (Django), etc.
  • Experience with data visualization tools, e.g. Tableau and/or Power BI.
  • Relevant experience including exposures in the cost/business management/ops research world, with a strong knowledge of quantitative risk techniques, cost and risk modeling, and government contracts.
  • Experience in the aerospace industry.

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
