Job Description

Epsilon Systems Solutions is seeking a full-time Mechanical Engineering Technician II in Yokosuka, Japan.

Summary: This position is located in Yokosuka, Japan, and provides support onboard U.S. Navy surface ships. The Mechanical Engineering Technician II will perform pre-deployment assessments, document recommendations, and assist with maintenance and troubleshooting of shipboard mechanical systems.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform pre-deployment assessments and document recommendations
  • Perform minor repairs
  • Perform troubleshooting
  • Train Ship's Force
  • Other shipboard mechanical duties as required.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 12 years of experience with either shipboard marine mechanic or skilled trades experience with related mechanical maintenance and repair experience
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, diagrams, or other mechanical technical data pertaining to the construction and operation of naval equipment.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense secret security clearance and base access
  • Five (5) years of experience in administration of the Navy 3-M and supply system.
  • Five (5) years of experience with shipboard propulsion plants or auxiliary machinery equipment
  • and/or nuclear-powered propulsion plants maintenance and repair.

ADA Notations:

  • Required to walk, stand, climb stairs, have dexterity as well as visual skills
  • Must be able to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes. The exact weight requirements will be determined by the specific job, but no less than 50 lbs.
  • Able to work on and climb ladders, work in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions and in confined spaces.
  • Able to perform other duties as required which may involve high heat, humidity, noise and dirty conditions, working aloft or over the sides of vessels.
  • May ride ships at sea for short periods.
  • May require wearing a respirator. Most work is performed aboard ships or in industrial conditions.
