We are actively seeking a Secret-cleared Senior Laboratory Technician to support the Department of Defense. On this contract, we support R&D, S&T, and experimentation and testing to influence system design and development for a broad spectrum of technologies. These technologies will include development and testing of prototypes and biological systems to support biological defense.

Note: The period of performance for this contract begins in June.

Work Description:

The Senior Laboratory Technician supports Department of Defense research, development, experimentation, and test activities focused on chemical and biological systems and prototype technologies. This role performs and documents complex laboratory tests and experiments under the guidance of senior scientific staff, maintains readiness of laboratory spaces and equipment, and helps ensure work is conducted safely and in compliance with applicable quality and biosafety requirements. The position requires U.S. citizenship and an active Secret clearance (or the ability to obtain and maintain one).

Responsibilities: The Senior Laboratory Technician will support tasks such as:
  • Set up, execute, and document chemical and biological tests/experiments under general guidance of professional staff.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and instruments (e.g., pipettes, balances, centrifuges, incubators, PCR and immunoassay-related equipment) and perform routine calibration/verification checks.
  • Prepare reagents, buffers, media, and samples; support complex formulations, precise measurements, and controlled experimental conditions.
  • Perform basic to intermediate data reduction and analysis; maintain clear laboratory records and contribute to technical summaries and test reports.
  • Assist with development and execution of test procedures and ensure results, deviations, and observations are captured accurately and on time.
  • Maintain laboratory readiness by managing supplies, labeling and storing materials, and keeping work areas clean and organized in accordance with SOPs.
  • Follow applicable safety, biosafety, and quality practices; properly handle, segregate, and dispose of chemical and biological materials and waste.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to support prototype builds, experimentation schedules, and troubleshooting of procedures and equipment.
  • Maintain chain-of-custody and sample tracking.

Requirements:
  • Four (4) years of physical/biological science or equivalent experience, with at least two (2) years of related research laboratory experience.
  • Secret level clearance, or ability to obtain.
  • Bachelor's or higher degree from an accredited university in biology or chemistry.
  • Demonstrated experience in four (4) of the six (6) of the following areas:
  • Setting up, performing, and evaluating complex chemical, biological, and/pr physical tests and experiments under the general guidance and direction of professional staff members.
  • Conducting non-routine qualitative and quantitative analysis of materials in support of the development of new products, materials and/or processing methods.
  • Operating a wide variety of laboratory test equipment and apparatus including prototype systems and pilot line equipment.
  • Preparing and processing experimental operations involving complex formulations, precise calibration, difficult sampling, advanced experimental techniques, and advanced test concepts.
  • Designing test procedures and preparing test reports.
  • Conducting test data analysis using intermediate techniques and equipment.
