Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) SME
Cleared Environment | Mission-Critical Systems
Position Overview
We are seeking an Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) Subject Matter Expert to support mission‑critical systems in secure, highly regulated environments. This role is responsible for the full lifecycle administration, performance optimization, security hardening, and sustainment of large‑scale Oracle database environments supporting DoD, federal, and enterprise platforms. The ideal candidate brings deep hands‑on experience across Oracle versions, strong scripting and automation skills, and a proven track record supporting high‑availability systems in 24x7 operational settings.
Core Responsibilities
Administer, monitor, and sustain multiple Oracle database environments (10g, 11g, 12c) across Linux and Windows platforms
Perform daily database health checks, performance monitoring, and capacity planning to ensure system stability and availability
Apply Oracle patches and updates (CPU/PSU) using OPatch, including pre‑ and post‑patch validation
Design, implement, and maintain backup and recovery strategies using RMAN, including hot, cold, and supplemental backups
Support high‑availability and disaster‑recovery architectures, including knowledge of RAC and Data Guard
Execute database refreshes, clones, and data migrations using Oracle Data Pump, SQL Loader, and custom scripting
Tune database and SQL performance using AWR, ADDM, SQL Tuning Advisor, and Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM)
Implement and maintain database security, user access controls, roles, and profiles in compliance with DISA STIGs
Investigate and resolve Tier III / Tier IV database incidents related to performance, replication, security, and application integration
Support application teams by modifying database structures, supporting releases, and troubleshooting runtime issues
Develop and maintain UNIX shell scripts and automation tools to support monitoring, maintenance, and disaster‑recovery procedures
Produce and maintain SOPs, technical documentation, and disaster‑recovery runbooks
Enterprise & Cleared Environment Support
Operate within strict ITSM and change‑management frameworks (Remedy/JIRA or equivalent)
Support systems subject to compliance requirements including DISA STIGs, security audits, and operational readiness checks
Collaborate with cybersecurity, infrastructure, and application teams to remediate findings and maintain accreditation
Provide on‑call or rotating support for 24x7 mission systems as required
Required Qualifications
10+ years of experience as a Database Administrator supporting enterprise or federal systems
Deep hands‑on expertise administering Oracle databases (10g–12c) in production environments
Strong experience with performance tuning, backup/recovery, patching, and security hardening
Proficiency with UNIX/Linux environments and shell scripting for automation and monitoring
Experience working in secured or regulated environments supporting DoD, DHS, or other federal missions
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and documentation skills
