Duties
Help
  • Serve as a Clinical Pharmacist Practitioner facilitating pharmaceutical care services and direct patient care programs within assigned service(s) to ensure drug utilization activities are aligned with patient care needs and regulated standards.
  • Maintain collaborative and comprehensive medication therapy management clinics and services in designated areas of practice, under a scope of practice.
  • Delivers direct care to patients though a variety of modalities and ensure documentation for encounters and clinical decisions in the electronic health records.
  • Reviews electronic medical record to monitor for appropriateness of drug therapy, including evaluation for adverse drug reactions, drug-drug and drug food interactions, disease due to iatrogenic cause, medication therapy duplication.
  • Performs drug usage evaluations, quality assurance/ performance improvement activities as required.

  • This position is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) subject to a pre-employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
  • This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.
  • This position requires Basic Life Support training certification from, or in accordance with, the American Heart Association and American Red Cross.
  • This position may require the incumbent to work uncommon tours of duty hours such as, on-call, working either fixed or rotating shifts, evenings, weekends and/or holidays.
  • This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations, the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
  • Applicants must be able to fulfill credentialing requirements and obtain and maintain appropriate/relevant clinical privileges.
  • This position is subject to screening and update of required immunizations unless exempted for medical or administrative reasons.
  • This position has a requirement to lift up to 40lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). Basic Requirement for Pharmacist:

Degree: A doctoral degree in Pharmacy that is recognized by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.

Exemption: You are exempt from the basic requirement above if you are a current federal employee occupying a position in the 0660 occupational series and have been continuously employed in this occupational series since September 27, 2017 or before. Note: You will be required to provide appropriate documentation to the respective Human Resources Office to validate your status.

Licensure: A current, active, valid, and unrestricted license to practice pharmacy in a State, a territory of the United States, or the District of Columbia.

Medical Requirement: Must be able to distinguish basic colors.

Specialized Experience Required: One year of professional pharmacy experience which includes: dispensing medication in compliance with pharmaceutical guidelines; and; compounding prescribed drugs/pharmaceuticals for proper therapeutic endpoint, and; counseling patients regarding prescribed medications. This definition of experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service GS-12.
