- You will manage the combined efforts of contractors, government agencies and staff of engineers, technicians and analysts in support of maintenance and modernization planning functions in any/all phases of the surface ship acquisition life cycle.
- You will provide centralized surface ship life cycle maintenance engineering, planning and management closely aligned with the surface TYCOM (Type Commanders) and NAVSEA (Naval Sea Systems) needs and priorities.
- You will oversee the Planning Division head to implement and manage SURFMEPP's role as the Program Management and Contract Oversight of the Specification Development and Availability Execution Support (SDAES) planning contract.
- You will provide management of Baseline Availability Work Packages for Amphibious and Mine warfare ships, Cruiser and Destroyers, and other surface platforms including management studies supporting maintenance and modernization planning functions.
- You will provide oversight and management of programs and policies for Waterfront offices in San Diego, Hawaii, Yokosuka and Sasebo Japan, Everett, Norfolk, Mayport, Bahrain and Rota assessment for the Availability Planning Dept program objectives.
- You will interact with senior NAVSEA and Fleet sponsors and SURFMEPP customers including TYCOMs, Naval Shipyards and other public and private surface maintenance activities.
- You will work closely with sponsors and all members of the availability support in structure to analyze, define, and execute all activities to achieve program objectives.
- You will provide oversight and assessment for Availability Planning program objectives, monitor start dates, intermediate progress and finish dates to assure compliance with applicable policies.
- You will assess workload, identify and evaluate alternate processes for all near and long-term planning.
- You will establish and maintain metrics to identify key data points (schedule, funding, manpower resources, and facilities) and measure program effectiveness.

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
