Job Description
The EGRESS Technician II (Technician) performs intermediate to advanced level inspections, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs of EGRESS systems and escape components on F-16 aircraft to ensure safe, operationally ready, and compliant systems. This position requires hands-on experience with F-16 EGRESS systems, including the ejection seat, canopy jettison system, explosive devices, survival equipment interfaces, and related emergency escape components. Additionally, the Technician works with limited supervision and may provide task-based guidance to client and lower-level Company personnel. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs of F-16 EGRESS-related components, including ejection seats (ACES II), canopy jettison systems, initiators, safing devices, cartridge-actuated devices (CADs), and propellant-actuated devices (PADs).
- Conduct periodic, 30-day, 90-day, 180-day, and 36-month EGRESS system inspections in accordance with TO requirements.
- Remove, install, disassemble, reassemble, test, and rig EGRESS components to ensure fully functional, safe operation.
- Perform continuity checks, routing, rigging, pressure/leak tests, and system functionals per technical orders.
- Maintain strict handling, storage, tracking, and accountability of explosive devices to meet safety, security, and regulatory requirements.
- Interpret and apply Technical Orders (TOs), job guides, maintenance manuals, and engineering directives related to EGRESS systems.
- Ensure complete, accurate, and compliant documentation of maintenance actions in aircraft forms, electronic maintenance systems, and required logbooks.
- Follow all explosive safety, tool control, FOD, PPE, environmental, and OSHA/regulatory compliance requirements.
- Maintain proper custody, storage, and controlled handling procedures for CAD/PAD components in alignment with explosive safety regulations.
- Safely operate EGRESS shop-specific tools, stands, test equipment, and calibrated instruments.
- Support inspections and acceptance checks during aircraft phase, heavy maintenance, or modifications.
- Maintain clean, safe, and compliant work environment and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to client and lower-level Company technicians as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Demonstrated ability to perform intermediate-level egress maintenance tasks with limited supervision.
- Knowledge of explosive safety requirements (e.g., AFMAN 91-201 or equivalent), CAD/PAD handling, accountability, and documentation.
- Ability to read and interpret aircraft TOs, technical manuals, schematics, drawings, and maintenance data.
- Proficient in the English language with effective communication and mentoring skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) is preferred.
- Must be able to work independently or part of a team.
- Must demonstrate safe and healthy workplace practices.
- Must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Must be able to travel within the US and internationally.
- Must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities of an EGRESS Technician II in daily work performance.
- Must be able to work in hazardous locations and various weather environments and conditions.
- Must be able to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC) and not be barred from any installation.
EDUCATION AND/OR WORK EXPERIEINCE
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 5 years of F-16 EGRESS experience.
- Prior USAF EGRESS experience (e.g., AFSC 2A6X3) highly desirable.
- EGRESS or Munitions Explosive Safety Certification (military or DoD-equivalent) a plus.
WORK CONDITIONS
- This position requires overseas deployment where the Technician will perform.
- Must demonstrate the ability to operate effectively and self-sufficiently in a foreign environment, including communication, local navigation, and personal sustainability.
SPECIAL WORK CONDITIONS
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a US Secret and appropriate host nation clearance(s). Ongoing eligibility is subject to periodic review. Strict adherence to all security protocols, procedures, and training is required.
- Must possess a valid U.S. passport with no travel restrictions, limitations, or disqualifications, with a validity extending a minimum 6 months beyond the projected assignment completion date.
- Must be able to secure all required work authorizations, including a valid work visa for the host country. Any prior immigration violations, criminal offenses, or adverse travel history that may prevent entry will not be considered.
- Adherence to the legal, regulatory, safety, and operational requirements of the host nation is mandatory throughout the duration of assignment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, sit, talk, walk, hear, see, and reach with hands and arms.
- This position requires close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
- This role is performed in hazardous duty locations, around loud noises and hazardous chemicals with exposure to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risks of electrical shock. The Aircraft Technician III must be able to work in environments with exposure to noise, chemicals, dust, and varying weather conditions.
- This position may require working in environments where combat-related personal protective equipment is issued and must be worn, such as ballistic vests, helmets, or other protective gear. The Technician must be able to properly don, wear, and operate effectively while using such equipment, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Work conditions may require quick movement or repositioning in response to safety, operational, or environmental needs.
- Duties may involve standing, walking, bending, climbing, or working in confined or elevated areas for extended periods.
- The essential duties and responsibilities are performed in a dynamic, high-tempo environment, while earing required protective equipment, with or without reasonable accommodation.
CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT

- This position is contingent upon contract award. An offer of employment may be extended prior to award; however, employment will be contingent upon the Company's award and subsequent contract funding.
