Job Description
The Engine Technician II (Technician) performs intermediate-level maintenance, troubleshooting, testing, inspection, and repair of F100-PW-200 jet engines and associated powerplant systems supporting F-16 aircraft operations. This role requires demonstrated hands-on experience with engine build-up, disassembly, inspection, module maintenance, and engine performance troubleshooting. The Level II technician works with moderate supervision and contributes to ensuring safe, reliable, and mission-ready engines in accordance with technical data, OEM guidance, and regulatory standards. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform intermediate to advanced level maintenance, overhaul, and repair of Pratt & Whitney F100-PW-200 engines and modules (Fan, Core, Turbine, Augmentor, Gearbox, etc.).
- Conduct detailed inspections, including compressor and turbine blade evaluation, borescope inspections, and hot-section assessments.
- Troubleshoot engine system discrepancies, abnormal trends, vibration issues, and performance degradation using approved diagnostic tools and engine data.
- Remove and install engines, engine components, and associated hardware from aircraft and test stands.
- Conduct operational checks, leak checks, rigging/adjustments, and trim procedures per approved data.
- Interpret and apply Technical Orders (TOs), job guides, maintenance manuals, service bulletins, and engineering directives.
- Properly document all maintenance actions in applicable maintenance systems, records, and forms in accordance with company, DoD, and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure compliance with FOD, safety, environmental, and tool control programs.
- Utilize precision measuring devices, calibrated tools, and engine-specific maintenance equipment.
- Assist with engine preparation for test cell runs and support engine test operations as required.
- Maintain adequate shop housekeeping, tool accountability, and material control.
- Provide guidance to client and lower-level Company technicians and may support training or task-based mentorship.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Proven ability to perform intermediate to advanced level powerplant maintenance tasks with limited or no supervision.
- Working knowledge of gas turbine engine theory, performance, and troubleshooting.
- Ability to read, comprehend, and apply OEM technical data, TOs, maintenance manuals, and schematics.
- Proficient in the English language with effective communication and mentoring skills.
- Must be able to work independently or part of a team.
- Must demonstrate safe and healthy workplace practices.
- Must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Must be able to travel within the US and internationally.
- Must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities of an Engines Technician II in daily work performance.
- Must be able to work in hazardous locations and various weather environments and conditions.
- Must be able to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC) and not be barred from any installation.
EDUCATION AND/OR WORK EXPERIEINCE
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum5 years of aircraft engine maintenance experience
- Minimum3 years of working on the F100-PW-200 engines.
- Prior U.S. Air Force F100 engine experience (e.g., AFSC 2A6X1A) highly desirable.
WORK CONDITIONS
- This position requires overseas deployment where the Manager will perform.
- Must demonstrate the ability to operate effectively and self-sufficiently in a foreign environment, including communication, local navigation, and personal sustainability.
SPECIAL WORK CONDITIONS
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a US Secret and appropriate host nation clearance(s). Ongoing eligibility is subject to periodic review. Strict adherence to all security protocols, procedures, and training is required.
- Must possess a valid U.S. passport with no travel restrictions, limitations, or disqualifications, with a validity extending a minimum 6 months beyond the projected assignment completion date.
- Must be able to secure all required work authorizations, including a valid work visa for the host country. Any prior immigration violations, criminal offenses, or adverse travel history that may prevent entry will not be considered.
- Adherence to the legal, regulatory, safety, and operational requirements of the host nation is mandatory throughout the duration of assignment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, sit, talk, walk, hear, see, and reach with hands and arms.
- This position requires close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
- This role is performed in hazardous duty locations, around loud noises and hazardous chemicals with exposure to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risks of electrical shock. The Aircraft Technician III must be able to work in environments with exposure to noise, chemicals, dust, and varying weather conditions.
- This position may require working in environments where combat-related personal protective equipment is issued and must be worn, such as ballistic vests, helmets, or other protective gear. The Technician must be able to properly don, wear, and operate effectively while using such equipment, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Work conditions may require quick movement or repositioning in response to safety, operational, or environmental needs.
- Duties may involve standing, walking, bending, climbing, or working in confined or elevated areas for extended periods.
- The essential duties and responsibilities are performed in a dynamic, high-tempo environment, while earing required protective equipment, with or without reasonable accommodation.
