Job Description

The Fuels Technician II (Technician) is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, servicing, and repair of aircraft fuel systems to ensure safe and reliable flight operations. This position plays a critical role in maintaining the structural and functional integrity of fuel cells, tanks, lines, pumps, and associated components of F-16 aircraft. Additionally, the technician ensures all fuel systems are free of leaks, contamination, and structural deficiencies and complies with technical orders, safety protocols, and maintenance standards. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Inspect and advise on aircraft systems removal, troubleshoot, repair, installation and service of aircraft fuel systems including fuel cells, tanks, lines, manifolds, pumps, valves, and associated components.
  • Perform functional and pressure tests to detect leaks, verify system integrity, and ensure components meet operational specifications.
  • Defuel, purge, and repair integral fuel tanks and bladder-type fuel cells. Remove, repair, and reinstall components in confined spaces in accordance with technical manuals and safety standards.
  • Work with aviation fuels, sealants, and cleaning solvents while following hazardous materials handling, spill response, and environmental compliance procedures.
  • Safely defuel and purge aircraft fuel systems to support maintenance, inspections, and component replacements.
  • Interpret and apply aircraft maintenance manuals, technical orders, and schematics to accurately perform maintenance procedures and record all actions in maintenance systems.
  • Inspect and maintain fuel servicing equipment, perform contamination checks, and ensure all fuel system maintenance meets required cleanliness and quality standards.
  • Assist flight line operations by providing fueling and defueling support, troubleshooting system issues, and ensuring aircraft readiness.
  • Maintain strict adherence to OSHA, environmental, and aviation maintenance safety standards, including confined space entry and PPE requirements.
  • Participate in technical and safety training, and stay current on aircraft system updates and maintenance procedures.
  • Coordinate with crew chiefs, avionics, propulsion, and other maintenance specialties to ensure timely and effective troubleshooting and repair of integrated aircraft systems.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Proven expertise in assigned maintenance specialty and deep familiarity with F-16 aircraft fuel systems.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team while demonstrating sound judgment and attention to detail.
  • Skilled in interpreting technical documents, maintenance procedures, and blueprints.
  • Proficient in the English language with effective communication and mentoring skills.
  • Must be able to work independently or part of a team.
  • Must demonstrate safe and healthy workplace practices.
  • Must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Must be able to travel within the US and internationally.
  • Must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities of a Fuels Technician II in daily work performance.
  • Must be able to work in hazardous locations and various weather environments and conditions.
  • Must be able to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC) and not be barred from any installation.

EDUCATION AND/OR WORK EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum 5 years of F-16 aircraft maintenance experience.

WORK CONDITIONS
  • This position requires overseas deployment where the Technician will perform.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to operate effectively and self-sufficiently in a foreign environment, including communication, local navigation, and personal sustainability.

SPECIAL WORK CONDITIONS
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a US Secret and appropriate host nation clearance(s). Ongoing eligibility is subject to periodic review. Strict adherence to all security protocols, procedures, and training is required.
  • Must possess a valid U.S. passport with no travel restrictions, limitations, or disqualifications, with a validity extending a minimum 6 months beyond the projected assignment completion date.
  • Must be able to secure all required work authorizations, including a valid work visa for the host country. Any prior immigration violations, criminal offenses, or adverse travel history that may prevent entry will not be considered.
  • Adherence to the legal, regulatory, safety, and operational requirements of the host nation is mandatory throughout the duration of assignment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, sit, talk, walk, hear, see, and reach with hands and arms.
  • This position requires close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • This role is performed in hazardous duty locations, around loud noises and hazardous chemicals with exposure to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risks of electrical shock. The Fuels Technician II must be able to work in environments with exposure to noise, chemicals, dust, and varying weather conditions.
  • This position may require working in environments where combat-related personal protective equipment is issued and must be worn, such as ballistic vests, helmets, or other protective gear. The Technician must be able to properly don, wear, and operate effectively while using such equipment, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Work conditions may require quick movement or repositioning in response to safety, operational, or environmental needs.
  • Duties may involve standing, walking, bending, climbing, or working in confined or elevated areas for extended periods.
  • The essential duties and responsibilities are performed in a dynamic, high-tempo environment, while earing required protective equipment, with or without reasonable accommodation.

CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT

  • This position is contingent upon contract award. An offer of employment may be extended prior to award; however, employment will be contingent upon the Company's award and subsequent contract funding.
