Job Description
The Maintenance Scheduler is responsible for the planning, coordinating, and maintaining of assigned aircraft maintenance schedules to ensure aircraft availability, operational readiness, and compliance with all regulatory, contractual, and technical requirements. This role manages short-, mid-, and long-range maintenance schedules, supports phase and inspection planning, ensures alignment with flying schedules, and serves as a central communication point between Maintenance, Operations, Supply, and Quality Assurance. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop, maintain, and update daily, weekly, monthly, and long-range maintenance schedules for assigned aircraft.
- Coordinate phase inspections, Time Compliance Technical Orders (TCTOs), time-change items, and preventative maintenance tasks in accordance with OEM, customer, and Company requirements.
- Track flying hours, cycles, component life limits, and scheduled maintenance intervals; generate forecasts to support mission planning.
- Maintain visibility of aircraft status, grounding discrepancies, and time-sensitive maintenance actions.
- Prepare and distribute the Daily Maintenance Plan, weekly schedule, and aircraft maintenance forecast.
- Ensure adherence to Maintenance Information Systems (MIS) requirements.
- Coordinate with Quality Assurance to ensure maintenance actions are scheduled in accordance with technical data and airworthiness requirements.
- Track, monitor, and verify compliance with TCTOs, Service Bulletins (SBs), Airworthiness Directives (ADs), Safety of Flight (SOF) notices, and Engineering Change Proposals.
- Maintain accurate documentation, records, and audit-ready schedules in accordance with Company, customer, and contract standards.
- Serve as the primary liaison between Maintenance, Operations, Supply Chain/Logistics, Quality, and other supporting functions to optimize aircraft availability.
- Support maintenance control/production meetings by providing current status, scheduling updates, and work prioritization guidance.
- Coordinate aircraft downtime with Flight Operations to ensure maintenance aligns with flying schedules and mission objectives.
- Communicate schedule adjustments, delays, risks, and impacts to key stakeholders.
- Provide timely analysis and reporting on aircraft status, maintenance backlog, forecasted workload, and manpower requirements.
- Maintain Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) such as schedule execution, maintenance flow times, deferred discrepancies, and out-of-commission rates.
- Provide trend analysis to support continuous improvement of maintenance planning efficiency.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
SKILLS AND/OR QUALIFICATIONS
- Must have prior experience with aircraft maintenance operations and/or flight scheduling, military aviation preferred.
- Must possess a working knowledge of Air Force/DoD maintenance reporting procedures and ability to quickly learn new ERKS.
- Must demonstrate a strong understanding of aircraft maintenance lifecycle, inspection intervals, and discrepancy management.
- Proven track record of success working on complex assignments requiring considerable judgement, initiative, and technical/specialized knowledge.
- Must have excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple concurrent priorities.
- Must be proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Must be proficient in Maintenance Tracking Systems.
- Proficient in the English language with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Must be able to travel within the US and internationally.
- Must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities of a Maintenance Scheduler in daily work performance.
- Must be able to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC) and not be barred from any military installation.
EDUCATION AND/OR WORK EXPERIENCE
- Experience with the F-16 platform.
- Previous duty in Flightline Production, scheduling, or analysis role.
- Experience working with international partners a plus.
WORK CONDITIONS
- This position requires overseas deployment where the Scheduler will perform.
- Must demonstrate the ability to operate effectively and self-sufficiently in a foreign environment, including communication, local navigation, and personal sustainability.
SPECIAL WORK CONDITIONS
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a US Secret and appropriate host nation clearance(s). Ongoing eligibility is subject to periodic review. Strict adherence to all security protocols, procedures, and training is required.
- Must possess a valid U.S. passport with no travel restrictions, limitations, or disqualifications, with a validity extending a minimum 6 months beyond the projected assignment completion date.
- Must be able to secure all required work authorizations, including a valid work visa for the host country. Any prior immigration violations, criminal offenses, or adverse travel history that may prevent entry will not be considered.
- Adherence to the legal, regulatory, safety, and operational requirements of the host nation is mandatory throughout the duration of assignment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, sit, talk, walk, hear, see, and reach with hands and arms.
- This position requires close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
- This role is performed in hazardous duty locations, around loud noises and hazardous chemicals with exposure to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risks of electrical shock. The Aircraft Technician III must be able to work in environments with exposure to noise, chemicals, dust, and varying weather conditions.
- This position may require working in environments where combat-related personal protective equipment is issued and must be worn, such as ballistic vests, helmets, or other protective gear. The Technician must be able to properly don, wear, and operate effectively while using such equipment, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Work conditions may require quick movement or repositioning in response to safety, operational, or environmental needs.
- Duties may involve standing, walking, bending, climbing, or working in confined or elevated areas for extended periods.
- The essential duties and responsibilities are performed in a dynamic, high-tempo environment, while earing required protective equipment, with or without reasonable accommodation.
