Job Description
Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Senior Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) to support a company focused on delivering high-impact information technology and cybersecurity consulting services to federal customers. This position is hybrid (2-3 days onsite) in Arlington, VA. The Senior Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) will serve as a technical cybersecurity engineering authority, embedding security into system architectures and designs across the full RMF lifecycle in support of mission-critical OUSW (A&S) capabilities. This role directly supports the protection of DoD systems that enable national defense and acquisition missions.

Responsibilities for the Senior Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) include:
- Engineering, integrating, and validating cybersecurity controls across system lifecycles in alignment with DoDI 8500.01 and NIST SP 800-53
- Applying System Security Engineering (SSE) principles to system architectures, designs, interfaces, and integrations in accordance with NIST SP 800-160
- Performing threat modeling, attack surface analysis, and technical risk assessments to drive secure-by-design engineering decisions
- Supporting DevSecOps initiatives by integrating security automation, tooling, and validation into CI/CD pipelines
- Providing technical support for RMF assessments, continuous monitoring, and authorization activities, including AO briefings and remediation of findings
Required Qualifications for the Senior Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) include:
- 10+ years of cybersecurity experience with a strong focus on technical security engineering and DoD RMF
- Experience with DoD RMF, A&A processes, and GRC tools such as eMASS or Xacta; strong knowledge of NIST SP 800-37, 800-53, and 800-160
- Strong skills in system architecture, networking, DevSecOps pipelines, cloud security (AWS/Azure/GCP - FedRAMP/DoD SRG), and security control implementation
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Cybersecurity, or a related field (Master's degree preferred or equivalent experience)
- Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility
Compensation for the Senior Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) include:
- Salary Range: $180,000-$200,000 **depending on experience**
