Director of IT and Infrastructure (TS/SCI)

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Director of IT & Infrastructure to lead the technical foundation of a defense subsidiary supporting mission-critical national security programs. This senior leadership role is responsible for the design, stand-up, and operation of a CMMC Level 2-compliant enterprise network , while owning end-to-end IT infrastructure across defense laboratories, secure facilities, and gateway locations. The position sits at the intersection of IT, cybersecurity, and facility security (FCL), ensuring secure, resilient, and compliant environments aligned with DoD standards.

Work Environment:

Hybrid remote role based in Lanham, MD, with planned future relocation to Tysons, VA. Role includes collaboration across secure facilities, leadership teams, and technical organizations.

Responsibilities:

• Own and manage enterprise IT infrastructure across corporate offices, defense laboratories, and satellite gateway facilities.
• Lead the design, implementation, and certification of a CMMC Level 2 compliant network environment .
• Develop and execute cybersecurity strategy aligned with NIST 800-171 and CNSSP-12 requirements for space and defense systems.
• Serve as technical lead for Facility Clearance (FCL) requirements, supporting DCSA compliance and secure facility operations.
• Oversee the convergence of IT systems, cybersecurity controls, and physical/facility security protocols.
• Ensure secure, resilient operations across mission-critical environments including labs, SCIF-like facilities, and protected networks.
• Partner with engineering, security, facilities, and executive leadership to support complex defense programs and protect sensitive data.
• Guide compliance activities, audits, and documentation across CMMC, NIST, and DoD cybersecurity frameworks.

Clearance Requirement:

• U.S. Citizenship required.
• Active security clearance required with eligibility for TS/SCI .

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 10+ years of leadership experience in IT infrastructure and cybersecurity within the DoD, defense, or aerospace sectors.
• Deep knowledge of CMMC Level 2 , NIST 800-171 , and/or CNSSP-12 .
• Demonstrated experience managing secure IT environments supporting mission-critical programs.
• Proven ability to lead IT operations in regulated, high-security environments.

Preferred:

• Experience supporting Facility Clearance (FCL) requirements and overseeing or partnering with FSO functions.
• Background managing IT for secure labs, SCIFs, or satellite ground/gateway facilities.
• Experience leading organizations through compliance audits and certification processes.

Compensation:

• Compensation Range: $180,000 - $200,000+.
