The MITRE EUCOM and AFRICOM Regional Operations Department (N551) Department seeks a strategic-minded, technically skilled, and operationally focused Agentic AI Systems Engineer. As part of the MITRE Europe and Africa team, you will work collaboratively with geographically distributed MITRE team mates to solve the most challenging national and international security problems across Europe and Africa by partnering with the US Department of War (DoW), NATO, and partner nations to apply advanced capabilities to real world operational needs while also strategically positioning the DoW to address critical long-term challenges.

Roles & Responsibilities: You will be part of a MITRE team working directly with US European Command (USEUCOM) and across Europe and Africa to plan and integrate cutting edge technologies and advanced operational concepts to enhance the command's ability to execute Artificial Intelligence capability development, deployment, and assessment.

This includes, but is not limited to:
  • Understanding USEUCOM operational needs and apply insights, recommendations, and assessments to artificial intelligence capability development efforts. This will be in partnership with other Combatant Commands, Service acquisition efforts, North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and prototyping organizations such as Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), Strategic Capabilities Office (SCO), Laboratories and industry partners.
  • Research, apply, and make relevant change recommendations to artificial intelligence governance, policies, initiatives, programs, and development efforts
  • Brief sponsors on facets of artificial intelligence application to the operational environment, audience will range from action officers to senior general officers.
  • Collaborate with MITRE enterprise artificial intelligence initiatives and capability development efforts representing USEUCOM equities and facilitate transitioning capabilities and knowledge to the theater


Selected candidates will demonstrate the following:
  • Domain/Technical Competence: Strong familiarity and skills in one or more of the following areas: (1) Demonstrate strong technical acumen, (2) Artificial intelligence integration and operational employment, (3) Operational requirements development and analysis, (4) Bridge technical and operational perspectives, ensuring AI solutions meet CCMD needs and standards, (5) Deep understanding of Agentic AI principles, architectures, and evaluation methodologies, (6) System integration, troubleshooting, and documentation.
  • Development of Data-Driven Products: Develop AI architectures, apply evaluation methodologies, conduct analysis, and create briefs that convert raw data into clear, actionable insights and recommendations for senior leaders.
  • Interpersonal Skills:. Proactive team member supporting team leadership and partnering closely with senior leaders and staff. Excellent oral and written communication; adept at presenting operational and engineering challenges, potential solutions, and project goals and impacts to a diverse set of stakeholders
  • Collaboration and Network Building: Demonstrated success working in geographically dispersed, multidisciplinary teams; comfortable partnering with engineers, planners, acquisition professionals, and regional analysts. Ability to tap into MITRE reach back support and external partners to augment analytical capability.
  • Senior Sponsor Experience: Proven ability to engage effectively with senior U.S. and partner-nation military officers, civilian staff, and commercial executives and managers.
  • Flexibility: Be able to modify and alter course as priorities shift, sponsor requirements evolve, or crises emerge.


Basic Qualifications:
  • Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of experience with a BS in a technical discipline, such as Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, Manufacturing, Computer), Physics, Statistics, Mathematics, or related fields; or BA in International Relations, International Security, Management, or 6 years and Masters; or equivalent combination of related work experience and education.
  • Willingness to relocate to Stuttgart, Germany
  • Familiarity with Department of War military missions
  • Strong artificial intelligence, capability, development and employment experience
  • Strong system-of-systems engineering experience across weapon systems and mission sets
  • Prior experience with US Department of War systems of systems integration
  • Effective and influential oral communications skills
  • Strong written communications skills
  • Active Top Secret/SCI Clearance
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • This position has an on-site requirement of 5 days a week on-site.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in related field
  • Experience with Combatant Command capability development and/or operations
  • Five years' experience in Command-and-Control processes, architectures, and systems
  • Additional clearances: NATO SECRET

Salary compensation range and midpoint:
$174,000 - $217,500 - $261,000 Annual
