Torch Technologies is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Technical Writer and Knowledge Manager to join a team providing services to the Missile Defense Agency at Schriever SFB, CO. This role will take ownership of the technical documentation and knowledge base for a team providing information technology to MDA. The ideal candidate will be a master of simplifying complex information and presenting it in a way that is easy for both technical and non-technical audiences to understand.
You will be responsible for creating a wide range of content, including how-to guides, quick reference documents, user manuals, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and knowledge articles.
In addition to writing, you will play a crucial role in managing and organizing our internal knowledge base to ensure that our team and our users have access to the most accurate and up-to-date information.

Salary Range - Colorado: $100,000-$120,000

- Content Creation:Research, write, edit, and maintain high-quality technical documentation, including how-to guides, user manuals, quick reference guides, and SOPs.
- Knowledge Management:Develop and manage our web-based knowledge base, ensuring content is well-organized, searchable, and up to date.
- Collaboration:Work closely with subject matter experts (SMEs), including engineers, product managers, and support teams, to gather information and ensure technical accuracy.
- Audience Analysis:Analyze the needs of our target audience to create documentation that is clear, effective, and user-friendly.
- Process Improvement:Establish and enforce documentation standards, styles, and templates to ensure consistency across all materials.
- Document Design:Create and incorporate diagrams, screenshots, and other visual aids to enhance understanding.
- Review and Editing:Proofread and edit documentation for clarity, grammar, and accuracy.
Qualifications:
- U.S. Citizenship
- Bachelor's degree in Technical Communication, English, Computer Science, or a related field is preferred.
- 5+ years of proven experience as a technical writer, documentation specialist, or a similar role.
- Active Secret Clearance level is required.
- Experience with both internal and external-facing documentation is a plus.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency with knowledge management systems (Confluence, Wiki, etc.).
- Experience with authoring tools such as Microsoft Word, Google Docs, and Markdown editors.
- Familiarity with screen capture and image editing tools like SnagIt and Photoshop is desirable.
- Basic understanding of HTML/CSS/MD is a plus.
- Communication Skills:Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into simple, easy-to-understand language for a variety of audiences.
- Organizational Skills:Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
