Basic Requirements:
Specialized Experience (for positions at GS-4 or equivalent and above): Work as a technician, instructor, inspector, or mechanic (civilian or military) that showed progression in theoretical and practical knowledge of electronic theory, and of the characteristics, function, operation, and capabilities of a variety of types of electronic equipment. This experience must have included the use of schematic diagrams, a variety of test equipment, and the application of appropriate electronic formulas involved in such duties as testing, troubleshooting, modifying, designing, calibrating, installing, maintaining, repairing, constructing, developing, and instructing on electronic equipment, or similar functions.

You may qualify at the GS-07 level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement:
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 in the Federal Service (experience may have been gained in the private sector) which has given me the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties related to the position being filled. Specialized experience is defined as: performing work involving the construction of electrical, electronic, HVAC, or control systems, or the verification of quality on such construction projects.
You may qualify at the GS-08 level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement:
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 in the Federal Service (experience may have been gained in the private sector) which has given me the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties related to the position being filled. Specialized experience is defined as: 1) performing work involving the construction of electrical, electronic, HVAC, or control systems, or the verification of quality on such construction projects; AND 2) preparing technical reports identifying and elaborating on any deficiencies, failures and recurring systems or equipment malfunctions.
You may qualify at the GS-09 level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement:
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-08 in the Federal Service (experience may have been gained in the private sector) which has given me the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties related to the position being filled. Specialized experience is defined as: 1) performing work involving the construction of electrical, electronic, HVAC, or control systems, or the verification of quality on such construction projects, AND 2) reading and interpreting technical documentation, drawings, and schematics.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Incumbents typical work assignments may include the following:
- Act as a technical consultant for Energy Management Systems (EMS). This includes providing technical support for new or expanded systems, reviewing designs for hardware and software compliance, evaluating HVAC system data, and performing quality assurance and code compliance checks on field installations.
- Perform research, development, and planning for the expansion of Energy Management Systems (EMS) in the Pentagon. This involves reviewing and modifying designs from contractors, developing graphical representations for new equipment, and collecting technical data to develop project documentation.
- Provide remote and on-site analysis of complex DDC controls to resolve system issues. This includes coordinating central monitoring and alarm handling, analyzing trend data to fix deficiencies, providing guidance to junior technicians, and modifying/upgrading software applications.
- Serve as a COR for monitoring and evaluating contractor performance on Pentagon FRCS upgrades, energy conservation, and SCADA projects. This duty involves conducting inspections, reviewing reports, authorizing payments, and providing technical advice to the contracting officer.
