Job Description

Duties

As a TRANSPORTATION SPECIALIST at the GS-2101-12 some of your typical work assignments may include:
  • Provides analysis support required for the planning and execution of Force Management, Tanker, and Sustainment operations.
  • Coordinates command operational transportation planning requirements to ensure a seamless, integrated planning process within the Global Operations Center(GOC).
  • Analyzes performance data to identify trends and patterns such as those related to movement closure, including making logical, accurate, and timely recommendations to improve performance supporting the combatant command's force deployment/redeployment requirements.
  • Works various actions supporting USTRANSCOM hosted conferences for OPLAN development and refinement including force flow and logistics synchronization conferences.

  • Incumbent may be a member of USTRANSCOM Crisis Action team (CAT) or assigned to the Emergency Response Group
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI)
  • May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours and/or Shift work may be required which may include overtime and/or irregular hours.
  • This position is designated as a key position IAW AFI 36-507
Qualifications

You may qualify at the GS-GS-12 if you fulfill the following qualifications:

A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service:
  • Utilizing transportation and information technology systems and standards covering transportation programs.
  • Analyzing performance data to identify trends and patterns such as those related to movement closure, including making logical, accurate, and timely recommendations to improve performance.
  • Providing guidance and technical assistance along with details regarding the capabilities of the transportation systems.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
