Our client seeks two I&C Design Engineers to support complex instrumentation and controls design activities for nuclear or process chemical facilities. The role delivers engineering analysis, walkdowns, and design output documents including P&IDs, control logic, loop diagrams, and DCS/PLC design while following established procedures. The engineer will lead problem solving, plan and monitor schedules and budgets, and provide guidance to peers to achieve quality, timely, and cost-effective outcomes.
Due to client requirements, applicants must be willing and able to work on a w2 basis. For our w2 consultants, we offer a great benefits package that includes Medical, Dental, and Vision benefits, 401k with company matching, and life insurance.

Responsibilities:
- Define scope for technical programs and develop effective, quality solutions to unique or controversial problems.
- Meet industry requirements and apply site systems to achieve quality, timely, and cost-effective results.
- Provide guidance and assistance to less senior professionals on related tasks.
- Apply deep technical experience to resolve complex problems across one or multiple technical fields.
- Incorporate advanced technical practices, special materials or processes, and difficult coordination or oversight requirements into planning and problem solving.
- Lead determination of solutions to complex problems and act as a recognized subject matter expert.
- Provide direction across department lines on programs seeking new approaches and applications of engineering principles.
- Evaluate program results and prepare reports and recommendations.
- Identify and recommend improvements where established technology or methods are inadequate.
- Remain current on advancements in relevant technologies.
- Prepare plans, schedules, budgets, and personnel requirements for assigned technical tasks.
- Develop schedules, monitor progress and expenditures, and review work quality.
- Communicate results and objectives verbally and in written form to customers, colleagues, and management.
- Prepare reports for external publication when required.
- Demonstrate leadership in local technical societies.
- Demonstrate creative ability through patent disclosures, problem solving, engineering reports, technical papers, and articles.
- Provide design engineering staff augmentation support using established processes and procedures.
- Conduct field walkdowns and support design development and generation of design output documents including P&IDs, control logics, loop diagrams, instrument indices, setpoint lists, instrument and control valve specifications, DCS and PLC design, instrument location and installation design, panel layouts, and vendor document reviews.
Experience Requirements:
- Ten years of direct I&C design experience within the last fifteen years in the nuclear or process chemical industry.
- Design experience with process control instrumentation, PLCs, and distributed control systems.
- Proficiency with MicroStation 2D CADD software.
- Ability to perform weekly field walkdowns, including traversing uneven surfaces, walking over half a mile, climbing ladders, and wearing protective clothing.
- Ability to work onsite on a 4x10 schedule.
- Active or attainable DOE Q or L clearance, with Q required for area access.
- Active eFOCI registration and approved Facility Level Clearance with DOE/NNSA for the subcontractor.
Education Requirements:
- PhD in an applicable science or engineering discipline with 5+ years of experience, or MS with 8+ years, or BS with 10+ years.
- BS in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Nuclear, or I&C Engineering, or current registration as a Professional Engineer in one of these disciplines.
