Senior Data Engineer

MANTECH seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented Senior Data Engineer to join our team in Chantilly, VA.

The Senior Data Engineer will leverage their strong technical background and knowledge to support the Sponsor's data initiatives, to include designing large-scale ingest systems, optimizing data lifecycles, and developing custom solutions to exploit new and existing data sources.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Designing and implementing large-scale ingest systems within complex Big Data environments.
• Optimizing all stages of the data lifecycle, from initial planning and ingest through final display.
• Designing and implementing comprehensive data extraction, cleansing, transformation, and replication processes.
• Developing custom solutions and code to successfully ingest and exploit diverse data sources.
• Working with Sponsor development teams and stakeholders to improve overall application performance.
• Organizing and maintaining robust documentation to ensure systems are understandable and usable.
• Collaborating with teammates, vendors, and users to develop new and more efficient data methods.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School Diploma/GED with 10+ years of progressively responsible experience data engineering, software development, and/or programming
• Significant software development experience, including Java development, data analysis, and SQL experience.
• Extensive experience managing the full data lifecycle from ingest through display in Big Data environments.
• Experience with Java-related technologies such as JDK, J2EE, JDBC, and experience with RESTful APIs.
• Proven experience developing and performing complex ETL tasks within a Linux environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Hadoop, Hbase, MapReduce, and the Sponsor's compliance automation tools.
• Experience with Elasticsearch, NiFi, Kafka, and Zookeeper.

Clearance Requirements:

• An active TS/SCI with Polygraph is required for this position.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
• Needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, and other productivity tools.
• Frequently communicates with co-workers, management, and customers, which may involve delivering presentations.
• Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
