Job Description

SkyePoint Decisions is seeking a Systems Lead (Application Development) to support a government customer on a mission-critical, server-rendered web application. You will lead a small development team, collaborate with stakeholders, and deliver enhancements across the application stack—UI, server-side logic, and database—while maintaining high standards for reliability, security, and maintainability.

Responsibilities:

Lead a software development team through planning, delivery, and operational support of a production application.
Partner with user groups and stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical designs and implementation plans.
Design and implement enhancements using server-rendered web application patterns (MVC, routing, middleware/request pipeline concepts, configuration, and dependency injection).
Build and maintain rich, data-driven UI experiences using an enterprise UI component framework, including heavy grid usage and advanced data interaction patterns.
Implement server-side data operations to support UI behaviors such as paging, sorting, filtering, inline/batch editing, export/reporting, and localization.
Develop and optimize database objects and queries in SQL Server / Azure SQL, including performance tuning and indexing strategies.
Establish and improve automated testing practices (unit and integration tests) and integrate quality checks into the delivery workflow.
Produce clear technical documentation, runbooks, and operating procedures; support scheduled deployments and troubleshoot issues across environments.
Diagnose and resolve defects across UI, application logic, and database layers using logs, traces, and diagnostic tools.
Recommend improvements in engineering practices (secure coding, code quality, performance profiling, maintainability).

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
7+ years of full lifecycle software development experience, including support of production systems.
Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
Experience leading or mentoring a software development team (technical leadership, code review, delivery coordination).
Strong experience building server-rendered web applications using modern web frameworks and patterns (MVC-style).
Hands-on experience with enterprise UI component frameworks, especially data grid-centric applications and complex form workflows.
Strong database experience with SQL Server / Azure SQL, including query optimization, indexing, and stored routines as applicable.
Experience with a modern DevOps toolchain: Git-based source control, branching strategies, pull requests, and CI/CD concepts.
Experience implementing automated testing (unit tests, integration tests, mocking).
Strong troubleshooting skills across UI, server, and database layers in development and production environments.
Web fundamentals: HTML/CSS, accessibility, responsive layouts; working familiarity with client-side scripting as needed for UI customization.
Familiarity with secure development practices and common application security patterns.
U.S. Citizenship required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Active or prior government clearance.
Experience with cloud-hosted deployments and operations (monitoring/observability, deployment automation, incident response).
Experience modernizing or stabilizing legacy components while delivering new features.
