Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Systems Engineering Technical Manager 3. This position will be in Huntsville, AL supporting the Sentinel Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) Program.

What You'll Get To Do:

The successful candidate will lead the Interfaces Team, which is responsible for identifying interface requirements, documenting those requirements, and organizing all interface-design artifacts that support development. In addition, the team provides support for weapon-system design-integration efforts that involve both external and internal interfaces. As the senior technical authority for all interfaces, the candidate will provide overall leadership for the team and will coordinate closely with functional and section managers on every team process, while also overseeing technical product delivery.

In the role of Work Package Lead (WPL) for the Interfaces Team, the candidate will be accountable for meeting direct and indirect budget targets and for balancing resources across the sections and teams within their scope of responsibility. This includes verifying that team personnel follow proper network-charging (cost-allocation) practices in accordance with program policy. The candidate will lead Statement-of-Work (SOW) task assignments, ensuring each team member has a well-defined scope and depth of work, and will coordinate those assignments with functional department managers, multiple section managers, and several section leaders. Responsibilities also encompass staffing and resources planning, training, and overall engagement to meet program needs.

People-management duties are a core part of this position. The candidate will evaluate team-member performance, devise engagement strategies for high performers, implement corrective actions for lower performers, and provide feedback for performance-evaluation and compensation processes. In addition, the candidate will mentor, develop, and guide employee growth, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional advancement.

The candidate will act as the primary liaison with Sentinel leadership, interpreting higher-level guidance and ensuring its implementation within the Interfaces Team. This includes reviewing, interpreting, refining, and executing board processes to meet program requirements, as well as offering senior-manager-level insight to directors and vice presidents-when requested-on policy, procedures, and the practical application of guidance as it relates to the team's integration efforts.
