As a Principal Mission Assurance Engineer - Level 3, your role in Chandler, AZ will be pivotal in supporting missions critical to national and global security. Ready to join forces with our visionary team?

In this job, you will:
  • Develop, modify, apply and maintain quality evaluation and control systems and protocols for processing materials into partially finished or finished materials product.
  • Write requirements documents and responsible for flow-down through the supply chain and compliance verification.
  • Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing functions to ensure quality standards are in place.
  • Interface with the customer regularly.
  • Create meeting agendas, maintain meeting minutes, and track data package submittals and action items.
  • Devise and implement methods and procedures for inspecting, testing and evaluating the precision and accuracy of products and production equipment.
  • Audit quality systems and engineering documentation for deficiency identification and correction.
  • Ensure that corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards and that documentation is compliant with requirements.
  • Audit supplier product and processes to internal and customer requirements.
  • Work with engineering to ensure product delivered is compliant with requirements.
  • May specialize in the areas of design, parts, materials, processes, incoming material testing, production control, product evaluation and reliability, and/or research and development as they apply to product or process quality.
  • Business travel will be required.


Due to the sensitive nature of our work this is a fully on-site position; hybrid or remote work is not available. Relocation is not offered for this role.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelors of Science in Engineering +5 years of related experience OR Masters Degree + 3 years of experience
  • Work experience in quality management systems (e.g. AS9100, ISO9001) and other industry related standards
  • Excellent written and oral communications, along with interpersonal skills that aid in achieving both primary and multi-departmental goals
  • Quality experience with demonstrated knowledge of the high reliability workmanship standards and hardware/interfaces typical of the vehicle launch industry
  • Familiarity with customer and internal requirements implementation and flow-down
  • Ability to travel ~10% and work overtime as needed


Your Distinct Strengths:
  • Able to take direction and apply learning in the field of engineering, or a related discipline, preferably as it relates to vehicle design, integration and testing
  • Able to communicate clearly, to write clear and technically accurate work instructions, and to use critical thinking to troubleshoot problems
  • Interdepartmental collaboration and communication skills
  • Demonstrated skill with process improvement projects
  • Strong technical writing skills


Preferred Qualifications:
  • A background in materials science or component engineering
  • Experience working in the Aerospace industry
  • Experience with Parts, Materials, and Processes (PMP) requirements and standard industry practices
  • Experience with electronic component piece parts and circuit board manufacturing
  • Experience with RCCA analysis, investigation, and implementation
  • Experience with Missile Defense Agency (MDA), Defense Contract Management Agency - Special Programs (DCMA-SP) and Department of War (DOW) as customer base
  • Experience with MDA Assurance Provisions (MAP) and MDA Parts, Materials, and Processes Mission Assurance Plan (PMAP)
  • Experience generating QMS command media


Primary Level Salary Range: $98,400.00 - $147,600.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
