Northrop Grumman's Aeronautics Systems (NGAS) Sector is Seeking a Business Management Director 1 for ATDC. This Position is an onsite position located in Palmdale, CA.

The Business Management Director 1 will be a direct report the ATDC Business Unit Senior Director of Business Management. The ATDC Business Unit has annual revenue of $1.2B with several key growth opportunities. This position will serve as the Deputy to the ATDC Senior Business Management Director, support a critical ATDC Operating Unit and support a key future capture for the ATDC and NGAS.

Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate and lead all business management functions and collaborate with contracts, pricing, accounting, cost management, GSC finance, financial planning and program scheduling
  • Influence multiple disciplines (Program Manager, Engineering, Operations, Global Supply Chain, etc...) to shape proposals, baselines and execution to meet financial objectives
  • Provide financial business analysis and reporting with the ability to clearly communicate with senior management as it relates to financial program status and analyses
  • Develop business strategy and forecasting, through internal or external deliverables such as Long Range Strategic Plan and the Annual Operating Plan
  • Oversee key line forecasting, work authorization, implementation of EV reporting, program budgeting, estimate at complete development, and various financial reporting activities
  • Coordinate cost and schedule analyses and preparation of reports to ensure contracts are within negotiated and agreed-upon cost and schedule parameters and government cost control guidelines.
  • Develop Proposals from draft RFP to award, including review of RFP, FAR Clauses, coordination with subcontractor flow-downs, basis of estimated, indirect rates, pricing strategies, cash management, negotiation strategy and oversight, and presenting to Senior Management
  • Manage risks with multiple contract types from both an execution and financial perspective
  • Mentor and develop professional and management talent within the business unit and operating unit.
  • Program startup efforts and support of the Integrated Baseline Review (IBR) and required data submittals
  • Development of detailed business case analysis and return on investment analysis


The successful candidate must have a proven track record in leading a cross-functional team as well as the ability to promote the professional development of the business management workforce, fostering a collaborative culture that sustains momentum around ethics and integrity, employee engagement, affordability, innovation, value growth and continuous improvement.

The candidate will maintain the highest level of commitment to quality, compliance and internal controls in adherence to company value and ethics. The position requires some travel to customer and other off-site locations.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Must either have a bachelor's degree with 10 years in business management experience (financial planning/reporting, strategic planning, cost proposals, project execution/management, contracts, pricing and/or budget controls and analysis) or master's degree in a business-related discipline with 8 years of business management experience (financial planning/reporting, strategic planning, cost proposals, project execution/management, contracts, pricing and/or budget controls and analysis) or a PhD with 6 years in business management experience (financial planning/reporting, strategic planning, cost proposals, project execution/management, contracts, pricing and/or budget controls and analysis)
  • Direct experience as a U.S. Government contractor with significant experience in program proposals, cost and schedule control, program budgeting, accounting and financial forecasting and business case development.
  • Experience with internal audit, external audit and/or other regulatory agencies
  • Strong understanding of government contracting and regulations to include FAR and CAS
  • Position requires a current Top-Secret Clearance completed within the last five years.

Primary Level Salary Range: $185,400.00 - $278,200.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
