Job Description

Position Summary

Seeking an Engineering and Installation Technician II (E&I Tech II) located in Miramar Air Station, CA, with 2-4 years of experience in IT, procurement, logistics, and network infrastructure. U.S. Marine Corps (USMC) wireless networking and structured cabling experience is especially valued. This role supports the installation, maintenance, and deployment of CAT5e/Cat6 cabling and wireless networks at client sites, including Department of Defense (DoD) locations.

The technician manages complex initiatives, interfaces directly with customers, supports business development, and contributes to field technical operations. Responsibilities include conducting site surveys and Visual Site Surveys (VSS), running conduit and cable, installing and connecting electronic equipment and wireless access points, documenting business impacts, and supporting implementation and cutover activities. Strong troubleshooting skills, high network reliability, and customer-focused service are essential in DoD and other government environments. Travel up to 20% (29 Palms, Barstow) is expected, and security clearance sponsorship is available. Eligibility to work on secure DoD facilities is mandatory. This is an excellent opportunity for transitioning military personnel; relocation packages may be available.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, install, terminate, and test CAT5e/CAT6 structured cabling systems for voice, data, and network connectivity in commercial, industrial, and government environments, including DoD bases.

• Conduct Wi-Fi site surveys, determine optimal access point placement, install and configure wireless access points, and validate coverage using approved wireless survey tools in secure facilities.

• Install, configure, and troubleshoot network switches, routers, patch panels, and related hardware, ensuring proper connectivity and cable management in network closets and data centers.

• Diagnose and resolve issues related to copper cabling, wireless connectivity, and network hardware; perform scheduled maintenance and respond to service calls.

• Accurately document installation work, including cable layouts, equipment configurations, test results, and as-built drawings for compliance and security audits.

• Interface with customers onsite to understand requirements, provide project updates, and deliver user training while adhering to secure-site communication protocols.

• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and technicians to meet timelines, quality standards, and DoD security requirements.

• Follow all company, industry, and government safety policies, including ladder safety, confined space entry, and proper use of PPE.
