Duties
Help

As a SUPV ITSPEC (POLICY AND PLANNING) at the GS-2210-14 some of your typical work assignments may include:
  • Policy, Planning, and Execution.
  • Develop, implement, and interpret plans and policies that establish the framework for the management of Information Technology.
  • Provide senior-level coordination of IT policy and planning across multiple divisions and directorates.
  • Lead a team responsible for the entire product lifecycle, from gathering customer requirements to the development, testing, and fielding of systems.
  • Interpret data from various enterprise systems (e.g., DoD Information Technology Portfolio Repository, Data Center Inventory Management) to support mission goals.
  • Conduct audits of IT programs and projects to ensure compliance with information security and assurance policies.
  • Supervision and Personnel Management.
  • Plan work for subordinates, set short-term priorities, and prepare schedules for work completion.
  • Develop performance standards, evaluate the work performance of subordinates, and provide advice and instruction on work and administrative matters.
  • Identify the developmental and training needs of employees, providing or arranging for that training.
  • Interview candidates, recommend appointments, promotions, or reassignments.
  • Hear and resolve employee grievances and effect minor disciplinary measures.
  • Communication and Coordination.
  • Represent the Defense Manpower Data Center (DMDC) in discussions with officials across the Department of Defense and other government agencies.
  • Prepare and present oral and written communications to varied audiences on technical, sensitive, or controversial topics.
  • Coordinate application development and program management activities, justify program practices, and negotiate solutions to resolve problems encountered across agencies.

Qualifications

You may qualify at the GS- 14, if you fulfill the following qualifications:

A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the 13 grade level in the Federal service:
  • IT Policy and Strategic Planning: Demonstrating comprehensive experience in developing, implementing, and ensuring compliance with IT plans, policies, and standards. This includes preparing IT budgets, managing investment portfolios, and developing strategic plans to govern IT activities and align with critical agency priorities.
  • Leadership and Team Management: Proven ability to lead a team in the planning and execution of IT products throughout their lifecycle. This includes gathering and prioritizing customer requirements, defining the product vision, and working with stakeholders to approve and finalize the strategic roadmap
  • Project and Risk Management: Acting as a leader in applying principles, methods, and tools for developing, scheduling, coordinating, and managing complex projects and resources. This includes assuming a lead role in providing methods for risk assessment and mitigation.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education

Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
