Job Description

Job Summary: The Software Engineer is responsible for developing secure, well‑tested, and high‑performance features and enhancements for the product. This role includes designing and implementing unit tests across applicable components and applying GitFlow principles throughout feature development. The engineer will tackle technical challenges of significant scope and complexity while contributing to the long‑term objectives and strategic direction of the development team.

Key responsibilities include triaging issues related to bugs, new features, and change requests; independently delivering smaller features with minimal guidance; and collaborating closely with the team on larger initiatives. The engineer will identify and address team‑wide inefficiencies and technical debt, propose and implement improvements, and help define and uphold internal standards for style, maintainability, and best practices in a high‑scale web and service environment. These standards will be reinforced through active participation in code reviews.

  • Independently deliver small to medium‑sized features with minimal oversight while contributing to larger team‑driven initiatives.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional team members to plan, design, and implement complex technical solutions.
  • Identify, document, and remediate technical debt to improve long‑term maintainability and team efficiency.
  • Contribute to defining, refining, and enforcing internal coding standards, best practices, and architectural guidelines for a high‑scale web and service environment.
  • Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality, maintainability, security, and adherence to established standards.
  • Advocate for and implement improvements to product performance, security, and overall quality.
  • Diagnose and resolve large‑scale performance and optimization issues, ensuring system stability and scalability.
  • Provide technical guidance, support, and troubleshooting assistance to team members as needed.
  • Mentor junior and intermediate engineers to support their technical growth and integration into the team.
  • Assist in integrating back‑end services and infrastructure components into cohesive, end‑to‑end solutions.
  • Contribute to planning, designing, and executing full‑lifecycle software development efforts from concept through deployment.
  • Work effectively in a fast‑paced Agile environment, participating in sprint planning, stand‑ups, and retrospectives.
  • Maintain clear, accurate documentation for code, processes, and system architecture to support long‑term maintainability.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to align technical solutions with long‑term organizational goals and product strategy.

Required Qualifications:

  • Must be a U.S. citizen and hold, at minimum, an Interim Secret clearance.
  • Must be able to obtain an IAT‑II certification within the first 90 days of employment.
  • Bachelor's degree (BS or BA) preferred but not required.
