Mid Level Career (5+ yrs experience)
$70,000 - $250,000
Job Description
Multiple openings for an active proposal / pending award, ranging from software to hardware tinkering and development.
Vehicle-focused expertise is ideally located in Cedar Springs, MI. Non-local vehicle-focused experts must be willing to travel to Michigan up to 50% of the time.
Software development expertise can be virtual/remote, but may be expected to travel to Michigan up to 10% of the time.
We’re looking for engineers, researchers, and developers who like to get their hands dirty - in many cases working directly with cool cars and hardware. Who have an insatiable curiosity, iterate with purpose, and aren’t satisfied until they are the go-to for their area of expertise in vehicle-focused reverse engineering, vulnerability research, and software development. If that’s you, keep reading.
On this side of the house, the work you’ll support and own is of global importance. Our customers count on us to deliver with speed, precision, and quality, and then do it again - faster and better. Their mission accepts nothing less, and neither do we.
Grimm is specialized. We like it that way, because it means everyone is contributing to get the job done. This skillset is hard to develop - but you already knew that. That’s why we want you, and why you want to work with people who are the go-tos in this field. You’ll learn more in one year here than you will spending three years anywhere else. Let’s get to work.
Minimum requirements:
Currently hold or be willing & eligible to obtain a Secret clearance. Applicants needing clearance sponsorship should apply, but should directly tie to a nice to have below. US Citizenship is required.
Effective communication skills - you don’t have to be a Toastmaster, but to be the go-to, you have to share your expertise and learnings in written and verbal means.
Insatiable curiosity and drive to iterate: continuous improvement of tools, process, delivery, and execution
Tendency to outpace, out-engineer, and out-grit the status-quo
Desire to prove something - technical, mission, or otherwise
MUST have either or ideally both of the below:
Experience with vehicle electronic systems - from infotainment to ECUs, communications to climate controls.
Experience with software development for embedded systems supporting national security customers.
Job descriptions and resumes don't always capture all the value innovators and iterators bring. If you don’t perfectly fit the nice to haves below, apply anyway. If you meet some or one, add in a cover letter for detail - we want to chat.
Nice to haves:
Relevant education: Bachelor of Science, a Master of Science, or a PhD - but relevant years of experience and projects can substitute
Familiarity with scripting languages, mobile/desktop internals, firmware, malware research, techniques, code execution, fuzzing
Expertise in the core for this req - demonstrated vehicle focused VR and RE, and our bread and butter - operational technology (OT)
Military, law enforcement, or intelligence community experience
Prior expertise in reverse engineering, vulnerability research, and CNO tools and operations, Ghidra, IDA Pro, Binary Ninja
You like to tinker with AI and large language models (LLMs) - and can speak to experiments you’ve done professionally or during your free time
Great communication skills - if you are a Toastmaster or something equivalent, or have demonstrated success stories, call those out in your application
Base salary compensation ranges:
Entry/Junior: $70,000 - 110,000
Mid level: $100,000 - 140,000
