Northrop Grumman Space Systems is currently seeking an experienced Engineer Systems - Level 3/4 to serve as a Program Lead as part of the Systems Engineering Integration & Test team in our Chandler, AZ office.

Role Description & Responsibilities:
  • This role will serve as Lead Systems Engineer for the program requiring the candidate to function in a dynamic multi-disciplinary environment
  • Regular interface with program management, engineering staff, and external customers
  • Provide leadership to the systems engineering effort for the T4 program including direct and in-direct management of engineers with limited oversight from engineering senior leadership personnel in a collaborative environment
  • Implement and manage system requirements in the Requirements Management databases (DOORS) and task management using Jira
  • Provide data for and assists in risk management (identifies potential risks) and trade study processes
  • Supports system design, data analyses, interface verification, testing, and failure/anomaly resolution
  • Supports the testing and/or evaluation/validation of one or more components of a system or subsystem analytical model or actual system implementation
  • Prepares and presents materials at program major milestone meetings
  • Manages cost accounts for systems engineering and mission scope of work
  • Technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems.
  • Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal
  • Ensure the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detailed trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications

Basic Qualifications for Engineer Systems Level 3 :
  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) with 5 years of related engineering experience, OR a Master's in STEM with 3 years of experience, or a PhD in STEM with 1 year related engineering experience
  • Active US DoD Secret Security clearance, or higher at the time of application
  • Strong technical problem solving, written and verbal communication skills to generate and document system level launch vehicle requirements, perform vehicle performance assessments and participate in system level verification/data review activities
  • Strong resolve to drive tasks to completion autonomously and possess demonstrated mentoring/training skills


Basic Qualifications for Engineer Systems - Level 4 :
  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) with 8 years of related engineering experience, OR a Master's in STEM with 6 years of experience, or a PhD in STEM with 4 year related engineering experience
  • Active US DoD Secret Security clearance, or higher at the time of application
  • Strong technical problem solving, written and verbal communication skills to generate and document system level launch vehicle requirements, perform vehicle performance assessments and participate in system level verification/data review activities
  • Strong resolve to drive tasks to completion autonomously and possess demonstrated mentoring/training skills


Preferred Qualifications:
  • A strong experienced-based and academic foundation in Systems Engineering fundamentals
  • Experience with Northrop Grumman Space Systems LVBU Systems Engineering standards/guidelines and expectations
  • Experience with external customer interfacing (meetings, presentation, negotiation)
  • Strong data review and timeline experience
  • System testing and launch operations experience
  • Previous Cost Account Management experience


Primary Level Salary Range: $98,400.00 - $147,600.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $122,800.00 - $184,200.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
