Lockheed Martin is looking for a dynamic Chief Engineer to lead cutting edge space-based development programs. Your role at LM Space is critical for the successful development of the most advanced technology and complex systems in the world. You will be the chief technical authority for a team that works closely with supplier and LM executive leadership to develop technical solutions, drive affordability, and lead development on this critical program.
As the SmallSat Bus Product Chief Engineer, you will be accountable for:
• Serve as dedicated POC across LM Space to represent the Office of Chief Engineer technical excellence expectations with supplier, in conjunction with Program Technical POCs
• Provide first hand presence to support and oversee supplier execution for critical LM programs
o Provide direct supplier engagement to understand practices and ensure sufficient technical rigor
o Provide recommendations on troubleshooting, root cause, corrective actions, and reach across assessments, impacts, and mitigations
• Coordinate across programs and LOBs, program CEs and technical POCs, as well as key subcontract personnel to understand program priorities, status, constraints, and focus areas
• Identify opportunities for efficiencies and common approach across supplier plans and programs
• Identify challenges and roadblocks; work with all parties within LM and supplier to navigate technical challenges and adjudicate priorities
• Travel frequently between domestic subcontractor facilities and key LM program locations (currently Denver and Sunnyvale)
• Engage to directly support supplier supported LM programs as required
• Support the Chief Engineer organization's strategic imperatives and initiatives

Basic Qualifications:
• Experience as a technical lead for hardware or software development with one or more subsystems or disciplines
• Experience contributing to or leading the technical response for a competitive proposal effort
• Experience driving subcontractor technical activities from proposal through final delivery and certification
• Demonstrated ability to drive closure and resolve technical issues/challenges
• Detailed knowledge of engineering and program planning throughout development lifecycle
• Active Top Secret with ability to obtain TS/SCI clearance
Desired Skills:
• Prior experience as an LM Space Chief Engineer
• Experience working as an Electrical Systems Engineer, Mechanical Systems Engineer, Spacecraft Systems Engineer, or experience defining and/or testing HW and HW/SW interfaces
• Experience interfacing and partnering with supplier and LM executive leadership
• Experience across multiple life cycle phases including development and into production, test and operations
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong social skills, and ability to build consensus among peers while building solid relationships with team members, leadership, subordinates, and suppliers
• Active TS/SCI clearance

Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $164,300 - $289,800. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
